Moderated End Insertion/Insertion

Hi Tom,

I don’t understand all that either. It was in the presentation on Thursday on being more productive. I think the podcast will be put up in a week and you can listen to it there. Maybe it will make more sense then.

OK.

I don’t understand the purpose of those for web pages, since no editing with track changes is occurring.

Hi Tom,

If I remember this from the program the other day these are inline frames. You don’t want to turn them off globally. It will turn off things like youtube videos in the middle of pages too. Go to setting center, use control shift W instread of d. Then type inline in the search box and arrow down and check or uncheck it. Press enter and then ok. It will be gone for that page. I’ve also discovered that sometimes f9 gives just the article and not those ads.

I’ve been seeing this on certain web pages, and it’s actually quite anoying.

Does anyone know how this can be turned off?

While this might happen in some places, this sounds like a new JAWS feature related to tracking changes in documents. One place you might see this is on a  shopping site where the price is listed as 12.99 and then crossed out and a 8.99  price is glowing in your face. There is a rather new feature in HTML to indicate that.
I would expect that the JAWS  features provided in Microsoft Word for reading with track changes should also control this on web pages, but I don't remember the details.

I seem to remember that you could set each rule to work for just that page, the entire site, or globally . I admit I played with Flexible Web when it was first introduced, but then turned it off, and that was quite a while ago so my memory might be questionable about it.

Hello,

I updated JAWS to version 2022.2206.9 and now JAWS reads a web app the
following way.

End Insertion then the link on the page – insertion

I am guessing that these are tags on the page. I am not sure why this
is reading this way, but it did not do this in the previous build of
version 2022. This also only reads in this specific section of the
page. Does anyone know how I can stop Jaws from saying end insertion
and insertion?

Thanks,

David Ayers
