Moderated License and years left
Karen Reynolds
Hi, I called and updated my SMA. I want to take a look at it. This morning when I booted my computer a dialog box popped up and wanted to renew my license. I did go through the steps and then woke up and wondered if all is okay with my SMA. There used to be a page where you could put in your number and see how many years you have left. I found the one for keys, but not the one for years. Does anyone know that page?

You should be able to go to the about JAWS dialog and it will tell you how many upgrades you have left. 1. insert+J to open the JAWS context menu 2. press up arrow two time to get to the about option 3. press enter 4. press insert+alt+W to virtualize the dialog, this makes it easy to browse what it says. or you could switch to the JAWS cursor by pressing the numeric keypad - key. hth Gene... Hi Karen!
You have to either switch to the JAWS cursor or virtualize the about dialog to see the rest of it, I don't know why Freedom Scientific did this, but you cannot browse away from the serial number when using the PC cursor, that's why I sent you all those instructions. Here are the URLs to the web pages you need. https://fsactivate.freedomscientific.com/Activation/VerifyActivationKeys This page asks for your serial number, when you submit it you will get a page with information about how many activations you have left. The item you are interesting is version, it will tell you the year you are licensed up to, in my case I am licensed to 2024. On 7/8/2022 11:42 AM, Karen Reynolds wrote: Hi Jean,Gene... |

Hi, Karen. Go to,
https://support.freedomscientific.com/Products/UpgradeAndSMARenewal
This won't tell you the number of years, but it will give you the last version number for which your current SMA is licenced.

Thank you for the web page. This helps. For some reason the insert plus j isn't working. It just reads the version I'm running. I try up arrowing and it goes nowhere. It does take me to Jaws so I can use alt h and get to the help menu and arrow to it that way. I'm not sure why it's not working the other way. Karen -----Original Message-----

Just wondering if you routed Jaws to PC before trying the Jaws cursor. The PC cursor is where the computer currently has focus. When you route Jaws to PC, you can read the computer with the mouse pointer and it can read places where the PC cursor cannot. If you don't route Jaws to PC first, your mouse pointer may be behind the window that your computer is focused on at the time. Glenn ----- Original Message -----

Hi, Karen. It's not working the other way, because you don't have Run From System Tray checked in JAWS>Options>Basics. If you check that check box, then restart JAWS, it will work.
