Moderated Convention Discounts On JAWS Annual License

Happy holiday, fellow list members. With the annual NFB and ACB conventions right around the corner,does anyone know whether Vispero/Freedom Scientific is planning to offer discounts on annual home JAWS licenses? Last year during the conventions, the price of a one-year JAWS license was reduced from the regular price of $95 to the discounted price of $76. What about discounted prices for SMA renewals? Thanks.

I just finished listing to the latest FSCast and the only discount they mentioned offering was for people using SMAs. I would take them up on the offer except that I currently have two more upgrades available and I don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

I haven't seen any discounts offered this convention season for Jaws. Generally, the most cost effective way to purchase a SMA is to renew for 2 years instead of 1 at the time of renewal. As I'm set through the 2024 upgrade, it shows me no prices when looking at the upgrade page. |

If you are up to date on your SMA, a SMA renewal for $120 that covers two years is a better deal. This is what I did. But if you are behind in your SMA then go for the annual license.

If 2022 was your last upgrade that your SMA entitled you to then to get the lower $150 price, you should have bought another two years before they released the 2022 version. That is what I meant by letting your SMAs expire. Sorry for the confusion.

SMAs are cheaper, I only pay $60 per year because I always add to my SMAs during the convention discount period.

You must be using Jaws Professional, on which there is no discount. The cost of the two year SMA for Jaws Home is $120 with the discount or $150 without.

I'm not saying Jaws is over priced, necessessarily, but to say that the cost of a few meals out, you can have Jaws is rubbish. That is a lousy comparison. I guess if someone needs to lose weight, you could say that for the price of all those unhealthy snacks you are buying, or if you drink too much, for the price of that daily 6-pack, it might be a more meaningful statement.
