Moderated Jfw and OCR?

Hi Claudia, Arrow down to the pdf that is protected. Press the application key or shift f10 on a laptop. Arrow down to either convenient OCR to Word with Jaws or convenient OCR with Jaws. Press enter and Jaws will begin. Depending on which one you pick will depend on which window opens with the text in it.
As for Word documents, if they are protected and you are sure it is safe, I will press control s to save it. A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to continue to save it and it will convert it to unprotected mode.

There is a marked difference between PDF documents as opposed to Word or Excel files. With regard to the latter two types of files, you can unprotect these files after they are opened in protected view. There is a way to set Word and Excel up so that these files do not open in protected view. If you want those details, let us know.
As for PDF files, you can set security up in Adobe Acrobat so that Protected View is not used. However, to be realistic, I can’t recommend a specific solution unless I can get a sample of one of those protected documents—something which your employer would not allow.

I am using the latest version of JFW annual with Windows 11. My job protects all documents, so every time I open a Word, PDF, Powerpoint, Excel file, protection is enabled. There is somewhere on the screen to disable all features. I need to do this, in particular, with PDF files. If I can’t disable protection in order to convert my file from PDF to Word, can I use Jaw’s OCR feature to read the document? If so, how do I do this? On my previous job, Jaws would automatically ask me if I wanted this to be done. Or will it not OCR the document, since the PDF is most likely accessible, once I enable all features? Thanks.

My guess is that you can. However, since I don’t have one of those protected PDF files, I can’t claim 100% accuracy here.
My advice is to try it to see what happens.
