Moderated Outlook Not Spell Checking The Subject Field
Curtis Chong
Greetings and salutations:
I am running Microsoft Outlook Subscription Version 16.0.14931.20132 with JAWS 2022 and Windows 10.
I have noticed of late that when you press F7 to run a spell check in an email message, the Subject field is not being spell checked. Is anyone else noticing this issue?
Thanks.

Curtis, That is curious. I am still on Microsoft Outlook Subscription Version 16.0.13801.21214 and it still seems to be working correctly with JAWS 2022. I’ll see If my company has the next office update ready to test

I’m using Microsoft 365, that is current with updates. I know that in the past emails sent through Outlook did include the Subject line when spell check was done. I just tried spell checking with a test message and the Subject line was not included. Hopefully, I caught any errors that spell check has missed.

There is a work around! What to do, go to the Subject Field, now go to the start of the word and press your applications key and come down the list.

Hello:
It only spell checks one word at a time. Another thing to do is to copy/paste the Subject line into a blank Word document, run the spell check there, and copy/paste back into the Subject field. Laborious but workable.
Another approach is to turn on automatic spell checking. This seems to check the subject field unlike a manual initiation of spell check in Outlook.
Cordially,
Curtis Chong
