Moderated Detecting Language Changes in Word Docs
David Kingsbury
Hi all, Is there any quick way to detect language changes within a Word document? I am not talking about changing proofing language or setting your screen reader to automatically speak in another language when a language change is encountered. I know how to handle those things. I would ideally like to be able to quickly search through a document to see language code changes or something like that. Thanks, David |

I don't know if this is what you're asking about? Script SayLanguageInUse=Alt+Control+A. This script says the name of the language in use at the current caret location of the document. -------- Original Message --------

There is a way to find a portion of the text that has a specific language label, but it is not what I would call quickly search through the text exactly. Besides, you should know Which language you are looking for before trying the search.

Are you looking to do this as part of a review before sending a document out? As far as I am aware, there is no screen reader or word commands to jump to a language change. I wonder if the raw document could provide any hints that would be useful for your purpose. My understanding is that docx files are actually zip directories and that one of the enclosing files is in an XML format. So perhaps there might be XML tags with lang attributes.
