Moderated weird and very annoying Outlook issue

Madison Martin

Hi all,
Not sure if this is a Jaws or Outlook issue; so I thought I'd try posting hear
first. This has happened to me before; but I don't remember what I did to fix it
and since I'm using Windows 11 now I might have to do something different.
Anyway, when I press shift f6 to get to the list of folders that doesn't work
and in order to go through my list of messages (when I don't want to delete one)
I have to keep alt tabbing back and forth because I can't arrow through my list
of messages. I tried shutting down and re-starting my laptop but that didn't
solve the problem; and I haven't changed any settings or anything. Using latest
versions of Jaws, Office 365 and Windows 11. Really hope someone can help me as
this is very annoying.
Madison

Madison,
This is probably a good time to call Microsoft Accessibility Desk. I think we'd be guessing at this, unless someone else has run into it. You could try loading Narrator to see how that reads the screen for you.

Well it must be a Jaws issue; Narrator allows me to move around the message list. I really don't want to have to keep using it unless I have too as it's hard not having a braille display.

The problem with CTRL+Y is that it is great if all you want to do is to go into a folder. It is less useful if, for example, you want to rename or delete a folder.

However, for most cases, use CTRL+Y. Very reliable.

Hello:

You need to get into the tree view of folders using the Shift F6 keyboard command. If the folders don't show up with this command, you need to press CTRL plus the number 6.

Once focused on a folder, press the Delete key to remove it. If, however, you want to rename the folder, press Shift+F10 to bring up the context menu and arrow to and activate Properties. The first field that pops up is the folder name.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Madison,
This is probably a good time to call Microsoft Accessibility Desk. I think we'd be guessing at this, unless someone else has run into it. You could try loading Narrator to see how that reads the screen for you.

Hi all,
Not sure if this is a Jaws or Outlook issue; so I thought I'd try posting hear first. This has happened to me before; but I don't remember what I did to fix it and since I'm using Windows 11 now I might have to do something different.
Anyway, when I press shift f6 to get to the list of folders that doesn't work and in order to go through my list of messages (when I don't want to delete one) I have to keep alt tabbing back and forth because I can't arrow through my list of messages. I tried shutting down and re-starting my laptop but that didn't solve the problem; and I haven't changed any settings or anything. Using latest versions of Jaws, Office 365 and Windows 11. Really hope someone can help me as this is very annoying.

I also use Control Tab. It cycles through the inbox, the navigation bar and the folder tree view in that order. I know I could add Shift to go from the inbox back to the tree view directly, but more fluid for me to hit Control tab twice quickly to get there than to add shift.

Hi all,
Not sure if this is a Jaws or Outlook issue; so I thought I'd try posting hear first.

I don't mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited.

Hi,

That depends though on whether you have the Folder Pane enabled in View settings. If not, that won't work either.

All the best

Hi Madison,
I use Shift+Tab to get to the folder list from the message list.
Doesn't give you an answer, but it might be a work around.

Thanks,

Madison,
This is probably a good time to call Microsoft Accessibility Desk.
