Moderated Thanks for my math lab suggestions and question about how to drag and drop in job assessment simulator called work day

Van Lant, Robin

Marlo,

I’ll be eager to hear others’ use cases for this drag and drop. I haven’t tried it.  Where I run into drag and drop is in online learning module my employer requires.  From what I understand, the courses are created using PowerPoint and interactive elements. The other day I was taking a course and had to drag terms to the appropriate definitions on the screen. Problem was, JAWS wasn’t even reading the texts. I’m guessing there were in little text boxes. I’m assuming I could have done some sort of OCR or full screen text recognition if I only needed to read the information, but then I would have lost any sense of where the items were on the screen to click and drag.  When I was in the office, I would have a coworker just help me with this part, but now I am working from home and use the AIRA service.   The agent will take a picture of my laptop screen via my phone camera that she or he can enlarge and read the text, then they will read the options to me and guide me in clicking and dragging via a mouse.  If I weren’t behind a firewall, I could also use TeamViewer with AIRA to let them take control of my computer and do the dragging for me.  I think AIRA has a job seekers offer that will give you a set amount of free access to the service.

Thank you for all the suggestions concerning my math lab website!  I have applied for a job also now and have been presented with a customer service simulator which asks me to drag and drop what I would most and least likely to do in a situation. Anyone have a work-around for dragging and dropping? I know there is one and I will do more research on the Freedom website also.

Thanks

Marlo

I have also run into this situation with training modules I have to take for my company.  Some of them wanted you to drag and drop items which fit a certain criteria, but the items to be dragged were pictures with no accompanying words.  I too could think of no other way than to work with Aira to get through it.  Even that was quite painful, though, trying to have them help me position the mouse.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Pam

I've never run into what is being described, but will copy and paste, or cut and paste, work in these instances?

I use drag and drop when moving icons around on the Taskbar, but that's about it.  Here's a method that works very well.

From: Sieghard Weitzel
With Jaws 2021 or 2022 I can drag and drop anything at will and in seconds,
not sure why this doesn't work for you and I'm not saying drag and drop
works everywhere, but on the taskbar it works 100% of the time and it's
simply a matter of going to the icon you want to drag, pressing the Control
+ Jaws Key + NumPad Slash key combination, arrowing to where you want to
drop it and pressing the key combination again.
