“When downloading Skype, make sure to choose the link to get Skype for Windows, as this works for all Windows versions. There is also a Skype for Windows 10 which is a universal app as well as a Skype for Business. However, both of these apps do not work as well with JAWS at this time.”

I’m not sure if you are aware but earlier this year Microsoft announced that they will be retiring Skype and want kpeople to use Microsoft Teams which is similar to Skype and will be apart of Windows 11 when it is released.

The issue is an immediate need to communicate with family overseas; and what they have available is Skype. So I will make that work as long as it can. I don't know whether Teams is even available where they are.

I am seeing announcements which indicate that Skype for personal use is still supported by Microsoft. I do expect that this will not permanently remain the status quo, however. If I had a choice, I would still opt for Zoom, as it is the most accessible to blind users and is free for meetings under an hour in length.

I forgot to mention that if Ann has an iPhone downloading the Skype app is also a good option, it's very accessible and I find it even easier to use than the Windows version especially if all you want to do is make a few calls of use text chat.

I still use skype for voice calls and would definitely take it over Zoom for that purpose. Haven’t used the text window in a while but it certainly works. Not sure if they’ll faze it out or not but it’s still being updated all the time as of now.
