Could someone please post a link for the Solenzio utility? Thanks much, Marie

Direct Download link for  Silenzio

You should get a save as dialog when you activate it for the EXE file.  This is the link directly to the developer's own archive.

Thanks for this. I know some said there were problems with version 2.0 when it came out. I assume those problems no longer exist?

Marie,

I honestly do not know about any issues with Silenzio version 2.0,which does not mean they do not exist.  But that's the latest version available from its original developer.

Hi all. When I downloaded and installed the software, a dialog popped up saying that there was an update, it’s up to 2.1, not sure when it was released. I can send a Dropbox link with the latest version.

Just let me know off list.

Hi Marie,

A new feature came out in one of the J2020 versions that does this same thing.  Read below for details.

Note: The new setting is explained after the 2 emails.

Hi,
I’m curious why the option to have jaws not cutoff words, is only available when audio ducking is disabled.
I use audio ducking all the time, but would still love to be able to take advantage of this feature.
Thanks,
Jessica

From: Bill White
Hi, Jessica. The reason the new setting in JAWS to keep sound cards awake is not enabled while Audio Ducking is enabled is because, while audio is being
ducked, another application is running which uses the sound card. If another application is using the sound card, that application will usually keep the
sound card awake, independently of JAWS.

New Option to Keep Wireless Speakers and Sound Cards from Clipping Speech When JAWS or Fusion Begins Speaking
Many modern Bluetooth headphones and speakers as well as some onboard sound cards shut down when no audio is received in order to conserve battery. JAWS
now includes a new option, which when enabled, keeps these devices awake by constantly playing silence. You will not hear anything, but your device will
remain active, resulting in more consistent speech. To enable this feature,
open Settings Center (INSERT+6) on the number row, press CTRL+SHIFT+D to
load
the default settings, and search for "Avoid speech cut off when using
Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards."

Note: The battery of your headphones/speakers could drain faster if you
choose to turn on this feature. This option is also not available if the
Audio Ducking feature is enabled which lowers the audio volume of programs while
JAWS speaks.

Hi.

I’ve tried the JAWS feature mentioned in this email, and it didn’t work for me. Silenzio does, so I’m happy.

Regarding Silenzio, I have it successfully installed, but keep getting update notices.

I click or hit enter on “yes” for the update, but nothing happens, and I get asked about the update again.

Does anyone have this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it.

Also have trouble understanding while an app like Silenzio needs to be updated in the first place.

Well I used the link to download to my 7yr old desktop with no problem but I had a battle on my hands when downloading to the newer Lenovo laptop. But I finally triumphed. Windows kept telling me it could potentially harm my system and made me jump through several hoops. LOL!

When using Silenzio, you can still use audio ducking, which I prefer. If you turn the feature to Avoid the delay in Jaws settings, you must disable audio ducking.

If you are using a Bluetooth audio output device, the purpose of Silenzio is to play an endless loop of silence so that the device cannot be put into sleep mode by Windows.  As a power saving mechanism Bluetooth devices are put to sleep after a period of inactivity.  For most of them, that doesn't matter, as the reawakening is more than quick enough that you have no idea they were asleep.  But with audio devices and screen readers, a sleeping device will often not reawaken fast enough to play the first little bit of what the screen reader is saying.  How big that "little bit" happens to be varies from computer to computer and Bluetooth output devices.

Hi Marie,

Yes that's true, but it was corrected in 2021.2012.48.  I'm sorry I didn't state this yesterday, but I just found the note to verify.  Read below.

• You can now have both the Avoid speech cut off when using Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards and Lower audio volume of programs while JAWS
speaks options enabled at the same time in Settings Center. Previously, these two
features could not be used together.

In addition, Silenzio will prevent certain USB sound cards from going to sleep. I have a Creative Labs USB sound card which, if Silenzio is not installed, goes to sleep after a while and stays a sleep. The only way to get it to work again, is to restart Windows 10. I have another problem in that, if Silenzio is not installed, and I am using JAWS 2021, and I run the latest version of Kertzweil 1000, Kertzweil will freeze, during the conversion process but, it does not, when I run JAWS 2020. The JAWS function, :Avoid speech cut off when using Blue Tooth headphones or some sound cards" when checked, does not work for this particular USB sound card. Mind you, in Windows 7, I never, ever,  had the problem of any sound card goingh to sleep at all.
