Moderated Calibre screen reader accessibility?

Cristóbal

Hello list,

Was wondering if anyone’s used Calibre recently and if accessibility has improved at all?

I know in the past, this topic’s come up before on these various mailing lists and at that time, Calibre from what I recall was more or less  no go with screen readers so just curious if anything’s changed on that front.

Thanks,

Cristóbal

If you mean the calibre e-book reader, no, accessibility has not improved.

It is usable (barely) for the pattern I exercise which is basically
just format conversion and occasional metadata correction but it is
far from a pleasant experience.

Hi,

I use the front-end Carlos developed for it. That makes it very easy to convert between formats without even seeing Caliber. If you would like, I can make it available to you.

if using NVDA, there is an addon for Calibre:

Ah, I do not use NVDA. I tried it many years ago but grew discouraged
with the attitude the core team presented toward entry-level developer
documentation.

NVDA has changed and improved a lot in the last few years, so you may want to revisit it. Or not. But it is quite good these days.
