moderated Using the serial number on a Freedom Scientific Braille display to check its status

Cristóbal

Yeah so both are at least 10 years old and both were serviced in 2016. One regular maintenance and the other for maintenance, a cleaning and cell replacements.

They’re the big bulky style from back in the day, but that’s not my concern. Being an 80 cell display, it’s not like I’d be carrying it around anyway.

Thanks again,

I don’t know if they are open to such a request, I would certainly hope so, but you won’t know until you ask.

Please let us know the outcome.

That’s what I figured and will probably call them later today. I just wasn’t sure if they were open to such a request.

If you are not in any hurry, use the email; but if you want to know this week, I'd suggest calling.

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young."

"Why, what did she tell you?"

"I don't know, I didn't listen."

Hello list,

So, I have the opportunity to buy a used Freedom scientific  80 cell Braille display. The seller supplied me with the serial number so I could check it out with the manufacturer to see how old it is, if it’s been serviced etc. (they’re not the original owner of the display).

Can I just call FS at their 800 number and provide the serial number or is there some other way to verify if it’s been serviced at all or how old the unit may be? Can I just email the regular support@... address?

I’ve never done this so was just curious as to the process.

Thanks,

Cristóbal
