Hi!

I am using JAWS 2020 and Windows 10.  How accessible is Thunderbird?

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks for this tutorial. I may be tempted to try TB again. In the past, I found TB to be not accessible due to lack of knowledge of how to navigate the app.

Loy, what follows is not a criticism, but an observation that's a direct offshoot of yours.

Accessibility of a piece of software cannot be defined due to a lack of knowledge about how to use it.  Virtually any piece of software one is completely unfamiliar with is not accessible under that definition.  But if you know that there exist many users of that software who are also screen reader users, it is absolutely accessible.

Not knowing how to use something is in no way the same as something being designed badly and unable to be accessed via a screen reader.   If you cannot get to functions and use them with a screen reader, that's inaccessible.

Is Thunderbird a free email service like Gmail is free? And, what,if anything does it offer that Gmail does not?

Thunderbird is one among many e-mail clients, e.g., Outlook, eM Client, Windows Live Mail (now out of support), etc.  It is not an e-mail service provider like Gmail.

It is available at no cost, and has been one of the Mozilla family of programs, like Firefox is, for years now.
