moderated getting Jaws on the desktop

I know this, Sieghard, but, by default, the Apps folder is displayed as a

horizontal grid, and if you exit the Apps folder and reenter it, the view goes back to the default. You can't set this permanently. This is why I was telling Madison about the way the folder is laid out. If it were possible to permanently set another view in the Apps folder, I would have told him/her this. While I can get the shell:AppsFolder to display in any of the typical views, it does not respond to the standard folder shortcut keys to change the view. The only way I can get there is:
1. Activate the Organize dropdown, Layout Option, Menu Bar toggle. 2. Activate the View Menu (ALT+V), Details option (followed by D). It also always reverts to Tiles view, it's default, if you close it and open it again later, no matter what view you had chosen for it using the above method. With NVDA, and I'd have to believe with JAWS (but haven't tested), first letter navigation works regardless of the view chosen. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

If I go to the Windows 10 search box and start typing "Jaws", Jaws 2021 pops up, going to that file location does not take me to the executable file for Jaws, but to the Jaws 2021 shortcut in the start menu and one could very well copy this and paste it on the desktop. The executable for Jaws (any version) is called JFW.exe.

I went into the search box and found Jaws, but when I pressed shift f10 to create a shortcut I got 5 options: Run as administrator Open file location Unpin from taskbar Pin to start Uninstall Can someone please tell me, what other way (s) can I create a shortcut for Jaws on my desktop? Even though you've all provided me with other ways to start Jaws, I'd still like to check and see if my shortcut key is still set or not. Thanks Madison

hit windows+r and type shell:appsfolder and press enter . . .- And that absolutely does work, as far as getting the shortcut. You may still have to open the shortcut file on the desktop and define a shortcut key sequence. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.
