Moderated bluetooth question

Hi,

I’ve used Bluetooth earphones with my iPhone, but not with a laptop  the headphone jack on my work laptop seems to be not working. I’m not finding any plug in earbuds or headphoens in my house that will work so I can hear JAWS.  I thought I could try pairing the earpiece I use with my iPhone. I turned off the Bluetooth connection on my iPhone and turned on Bleutooth in the laptop; however, I don’t see the earpiece showing up in the list, even though my earpiece is in pairing mode.    Am I going about this the correct way?  Should a basic, Bluetooth earpiece that works with an iPhone also work with a laptop or is there a difference?  I think this is a Plantronics earpiece, but I’m not positive.  It’s possible my company has some security restriction on Bluetooth, but I dread calling our helpdesk to ask.

Hi,

It is harder to connect some blue tooth headphones with laptops than a phone.

Try having your laptop search for devices under the blue tooth setting.

Sometimes the headphones are discovered under a weird name.

You may need to try the search a couple of times .

Try turning off and then on the blue tooth settings on your laptop to see if this initiates a new search.

I have also found that Bluetooth headphones, depending on brand, are not as reliable as with  a phone.

When my speakers blew on my laptop.  I looked into getting a Blue Tooth speaker.  The salesman talked me out of it stating, “Every time you start or restart the laptop you have to pair the speaker with the laptop all over again.  It should automatically pair, but it doesn’t.” I do have blue tooth headphones paired with my iPhone and loved the fact that when it was warmer and we could water the grass, I could leave my iPhone in the lawn chair and, while still chatting with someone, could move the hose with no dropped call.

Hi,

I have used a blue tooth speaker with a Dell laptop.  Most of the time it remembered the speaker but at times there was a connection issue.  I tried headphones but gave up due to the difficulty and just left them for the mobile devices.
