Hi, just a question
The public beta of 2021 is out?
Afik.

Do the beta releases also work in 40-minute mode like the real releases do?

No but they do eventually go away after a prescribed length of time. Larry

Thanks for the info. I may end up snagging it when it comes out.
I don't use JAWS myself, but I do occasionally tutor for it, or need to check something out in it, and the 40-minute mode is the bane of my existence. It's not the 40 minute limitation, as I never take anywhere close to that to figure something out, but that it's not timed from whenever you might happen to want to invoke JAWS, but from when the system was started up (which I think is insanely stupid). It's not rocket science to set this up such that "now" is recorded in a file, and you get 40 minutes from "now" and cannot get another 40 minutes unless you have rebooted or some period of time from "the last now" has passed. For those of us who leave our machines up and running 24/7 for extended periods of time, and who keep lots of work up and running, too, having to reboot to get a "quick check" of something from JAWS is maddening. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

OK I believe Google ate it and put said message in the spam
folder. Thanks. I figured it wasn't out yet.

Lino, Try and be patient. If I remember correctly the official version of 2021 will be released Oct. 10. I could be wrong though. I just know it is sometime in Oct.

It is from the first time you run Jaws then after 40 minutes you
need to reboot. Not from the first time your machine is turned on.
Your machine could be on for a year and jaws will run for 40 minutes
if it is the first time you used it in that year.

True the official release is in late October, but the two or three beta versions will take place in early September and in to October. My guess is that unless we run in to any show-stoppers on the beta team that you could see it as early as maybe later this week. We’ll see. Larry
