Moderated Recent Accessibility of Docusign with JAWS

Ekstrand, Pamela A. -ND <pamela.a.ekstrand.-nd@...>

Hi All,

Has anyone tried using Docusign recently with JAWS, or NVDA for that matter? We had used it about 3 years ago when selling a house and found it quite accessible. However, today when we tried to use it again, it was unuseable. For example, if you hit the letter B to navigate to the next button to sign, and then hit enter or spacebar, no signature was applied. Focus was thrown either to somewhere else in the document or completely into a different open window. We found similar results with NVDA.

Has anyone had success using Docusign lately, and if so, with which screen reader and browser? We were using Chrome.

I finally ended up trying it on my iPhone, and did have better luck there.

Thanks,
Pam

Funny, I received your e-mail exactly as I was using docusign. It worked fine for me using Chrome and JAWS just now .

I used docusign two months ago with internet explorer and jaws 2020 on a
windows 7 laptop. I had a few hiccups, did not know any shortcuts, but was
able to successfully do my home refinance all on line by myself. I had a
great banker who thought of docusign and took pains to make sure everything
was prepared in it. I even found times where docusigntold me to use my
screen reader to read a certain part of the document. I was kind of happily
amazed by the whole experience.

Wow, well that's good to know from both of you.

I wonder what the problem could be? Both my husband and I tried it on two different Windows 10 computers, with one running JAWS 2018 and the other running JAWS 2020, and we both had similar issues.

I am at a loss to understand what the issue is.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

The first time I used it, it took me a while to get used to it; but once I
got the hang of how it was laid out and what it wanted, things went well.
The bank had sent stuff using some other system they use but my particular
banker figured out docusign would work better for me and itdid. The other
system was basicly not accessable.

I recently purchased a commercial building for my retail store and at the same time sold the one I am currently in. My realter used DocuSign and I probably had to sign a dozen things over a period of a few month and it was prettty easy. Make sure you select to use the screenreaer mode, at some point there is a link to turn this on.

Just as a follow-up, we received more documents related to our refinance today, and these were very accessible with Docusign. We had none of the problems we had with the first documents. So I have no idea why, but I am glad.

Hi. For those using Docusign with jaws, is a web page you're going to
or is there a chrome extention or sometthing to download/>? We'll be
signing a new lease later this year and this is encouraging that it
seems accessible. I'll grab it on the google play store on android in
case it's usable there too.

Hi Tina,

DocuSign is not something you download as a standalone program. If the document you are signing was prepared using DocuSign, there is a link in it that will open it within DocuSign, and the places where you are required to sign will show up as buttons to JAWS.

Hi Tina,

DocuSign is not something you download as a standalone program. If the
document you are signing was prepared using DocuSign, there is a link in
it that will open it within DocuSign, and the places where you are
required to sign will show up as buttons to JAWS.

Hi. For those using Docusign with jaws, is a web page you're going to
or is there a chrome extention or sometthing to download/>? We'll be
signing a new lease later this year and this is encouraging that it
seems accessible. I'll grab it on the google play store on android in
case it's usable there too.

Yes, I did turn that on. I really can't figure out why it wasn't working
for us this time since it had worked well when we used it a few years back
to sell a house. I can't imagine the issue would be something specific to
the document but...

I recently purchased a commercial building for my retail store and at the
same time sold the one I am currently in. My realter used DocuSign and I
probably had to sign a dozen things over a period of a few month and it was
prettty easy. Make sure you select to use the screenreaer mode, at some
point there is a link to turn this on.

Hi All,

Has anyone tried using Docusign recently with JAWS, or NVDA for that matter?
We had used it about 3 years ago when selling a house and found it quite
accessible. However, today when we tried to use it again, it was unuseable.
For example, if you hit the letter B to navigate to the next button to
sign, and then hit enter or spacebar, no signature was applied. Focus was
thrown either to somewhere else in the document or completely into a
different open window. We found similar results with NVDA.

Has anyone had success using Docusign lately, and if so, with which screen
reader and browser? We were using Chrome.

I finally ended up trying it on my iPhone, and did have better luck there.

Thanks,
Pam

According to the Docusign web site, they are used in Microsoft programs, so one would get that impression.
