Hi Mike,
OK. Now I finally got brave enough to get into Word and make some changes in the settings. Hopefully, I didn’t do too much damage. (smile). Thank you. And I am glad I made the changes in JAWS as well. I’m tentative when it comes to changing settings, and I had forgotten a lot that I used to know. So I’m glad I played around with it tonight and I’m happy with what I accomplished. Thanks again. And thanks to Chris for guiding me through the Word settings.

Thanks, Chris, but it wasn’t doing it until the latest update of JAWS. I have checked the settings in Word, and they are the same as they have always been. Could the latest update for windows have effected this? I use Word 2016.

It isn't jaws doing that, word is doing that. Open word, hit alt+f, arrow up to options and hit enter. Arrow down to proofing and hit tab. All the options are there. You can decide what is auto-corrected, or turn it off altogether under auto correct options.

Thanks, Mike. I like your suggested change in settings, because I’d prefer correcting my spelling after I have finished. Otherwise, the corrections interrupt my flow of thoughts. But, unfortunately, the computer is still making some changes on my behalf which I haven’t authorized. I don’t even know about them. For example, If I key in 2 hyphens to make a dash, the computer changes it to an n dash without telling me. That’s not so bad, but that’s the best example I can give you right now.
Perhaps I will look into Word settings just as someone else suggested.

Hi everyone,
How do I keep JAWS from automatically making corrections in Word? I don’t even know the corrections have been made, and sometimes a spelling word is not incorrect (such as an unusual spelling of a name).
