Hello list members, For the last week or so, when I am typing an email, or document in word, (using JAWS , there are frequent instances in which the space between words is left out, and so I have to go back through the document/message and insert the space. FYI: I am using JAWS 2020, though this was happening with JAWS 2019 as well. Is there a setting that I can add or change to reduce the occurrence of this Issue. This is really frustrating! The first thing I would check is to make sure the edit windows
are maximized, Windows key + up arrow.

Hey.
So from what youv’e said, the spaces are not actually there – JAWS isn’t “leaving them out” you have to go back and insert them. What makes you think this is related to JAWS? Are you not experiencing the same typing glitch with Narrator or NVDA? Because if this was happening to me the first thing that would probably cross my mind is that my keyboard is faulty.

try cleaning the space bar out with some alcohol. that is if you can find some. grin. or try another keyboard. if a laptop you could try a u s b or wireless keyboard. maybe you know someone that will let you try theres for awhile. -----Original Message-----

I have had this happen before as well. It has also happened when opening some documents from the internet. It reads as just a bunch of run together words, for example in a newsletter that I have opened.
It is really random.

By any chance, when you arrow across the line of words that are run together, does JAWS say space marker between one word and the next? If so, just press alt+8.

Another thought, do you have each character being echoed as you type? What is the processor speed? If it isn’t the keyboard, it could be that you are getting ahead of what can be processed by your computer. I don’t know if having Jaws echo each character would slow down the processing enough to make this an issue, but just a thought. I only have words spoken and I type close to 100 words a minute and have never experienced this issue.
