Moderated Problem with Internet email in outlook
Brenda Emerson-Alford
I am using jaws 2019 on windows 1903. I have Microsoft 2016. I am having a problem with Outlook receiving my Gmail. It had been working before I traveled. Even though I took my hotspot with me for Wi-Fi connection I was on able to originally get my email through outlook on my laptop. Eventually I was able to make it work through Gmail by responding to a critical alert and letting them know it was me. Now that I am back I cannot get my email to come through on Outlook. I continually receive a prompt to enter my password for my Gmail account. It is properly entered. I hit OK and I get the same message over and over again. I did go into Gmail and set up second verification using a text message. I’m not sure if that is interfering with things now or not. I had the problem before I set up the second verification process. I would love to hear any thoughts on what to do. Thanks.

log on to your web mail and find the security settings. look for see if allow less secure programs to run and check it and save your google settings and see if it starts working again. -----Original Message-----

If you use 2-step authentication you probably have to create a so-called app specific password by logging in to your Gmail account online, it’s probably somewhere under the security section and then use that password instead of your regular Gmail password to log into Outlook.

Hi Brenda, If you have 2-step verification turned on, then with the current gmail password you'll not be able to get your email through outlook. To be able to receive gmail email through outlook, open your gmail account and navigate to security and then Turn On Less Secure App Access And create a password for your outlook and use that new generated password to login to your outlook account. Hope this helps Pramit On Tue, Mar 3, 2020 at 2:58 AM Brenda Emerson-Alford <blea417@...> wrote:

Hi,
Have you tried going your control panel and type in the search box “mail” (without the quotes), then click on the email button. It brings you to a screen with several buttons. Find the one that says repair using your tab key and follow the screen prompts. HTH

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I am completely frustrated. I have turned off two step verification on Gmail. I cleared every security critical warning asking if it was me. This morning I still get the same box asking me to enter a username for my Internet email account at Gmail. Which server should be listed as my server with Gmail? It was originally pop but I did change it over to SMPT. Let me know what you guys think.

I already have two step verification turned off. I also have the allow third-party apps checked. Are you telling me it’s still probably best to put in a new password? Thanks.

It sounds as though it might be time to contact the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk. I advise doing a backup before you let them work in your Outlook, better safe than sorry.

Have you enabled the allow less secure apps on your Google account? The only other thing I can think of is have you enabled the iamb a P in the forwarding section? On Mar 4, 2020, at 1:01 PM, Brenda Emerson-Alford <blea417@...> wrote:

Yes I have shift allow less secure apps. I don’t know where the forwarding section is. I’ve been through the Gmail settings page as much as I can and I have not seen that section. Any ideas on how to find it would be helpful. I’m not that good at Google Chrome but I’ve been working with it some. Thanks.

If you use Outlook, why not just login through the 2FA?

Yes, I didn't think that gmail was a POP server.
