Even before that, but for those still on Windows 7 Microsoft is having the OS give messages about end of support in January.  I presume the e-mails come to those with Microsoft accounts that have Windows 7 machines associated with same.

Those who intend to remain in the Windows ecosystem must now upgrade to Windows 10 if they want a supported version that will remain supported beyond 2023, the drop dead date for Windows 8.1.
