Looking for Accessible Image Manipulation Program

Hi!
I am looking for an accessible image manipulation program. Mostly, what I need to do is change an image's size. The program should be able to deal with .jpg, .png and similar files.

I have used the very simple, and very useful, Bulk Image Manager for a long time now.
See: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dinoimages/ Given when it was developed, and the old Windows 7 style interface, I would presume it has to be accessible. It's free to try in any case. The only thing I don't like about it is if a picture is taken in portrait orientation rather than the more traditional landscape, if you resize it the image ends up being rotated. You don't lose anything, but it could be a surprise if you don't know it's happened and you expect the orientation of all photos resized to remain as they originally were. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1703, Build 15063 (dot level on request - it changes too often to keep in signature) |

Hi Jason!
Well, I am still looking. Image Magick seems like a really powerful program; but it seems to function mostly from the command prompt, which is sort of cumbersome. And, from the Windows GUI, for the resize function it does not auto scale width/height maintaining aspect ratio but rather requires that both of these parameters be entered. That is the main thing I am looking for. Perhaps this function is somewhere in the toolbar, but that area seems inaccessible as is the status bar. Might you know how to access these areas of the application?

Hi Brian!
Bulk Image Manager seems neat, but the flipping of an image upon resize is sort of a show-stopper. So, I am still looking. I would need to have a sighted person review every image I resized to correct for rotation. That sort of defeats my aim of being to do some basic image manipulation independently. The main thing I want is the ability to resize an image while maintaining its aspect ratio.

You would need to know when you have photos in portrait if you wish to maintain that orientation afterward. Most bulk image programs, whether resizing or doing anything else, need to have a consistent "long side" and "short side" and that's generally a landscape orientation as they work through the images. Bulk Image Manager intelligently detects if it's been handed a picture in portrait orientation and rotates it to landscape before applying the resizing algorithm so that no picture content is lost (except what always gets lost from any resizing, downward, anyway). I wish it were smart enough to remember that it had done so, and apply the counterrotation to the end result, but it isn't. If you find a bulk resizer that is, please let me know. I also meant to say that the aspect ratio is maintained, and that's part of the reason for the rotation on portrait orientation pictures.
If you know that all the photos you're working on are the more typical landscape orientation no rotation comes into play at all, so keep that in mind. The reasons for which you use this utility are the same reasons why I need such a thing - resizing for website posting. I will reconsider this program failing anything better materializing; in which case I will let you know.
