Sending screenshots using JAWS

Michael Mote

Good evening!  I’m wondering how to send a screen shot using JAWS, or if it’s doable.  I thought there was a way to do it.  I thought you could do it by pressing the print screen key or something like that?

Michael,

ALT+PrtSc is the keystroke sequence to do a window capture.  If the window that has focus is maximized to fill the screen then it is, in fact, a screen capture.  If, however, you have focus on something like a dialog box or window that's been reduced down you'll get something that's the size of that particular window, not the full screen.

The above only captures the screen, but you still have to save that capture as an image file if you want to do something like send it as an e-mail attachment.  I generally just open MS-Paint, paste the capture from the clipboard, then save it as a JPG file.

I believe irfan view can also be used, but paint should suffice.

Mario,

Any image editing program you prefer:  IrfanView, MS-Paint, GIMP, PhotoShop, and the list goes on and on will suffice.  I just use Paint because it's included with Windows and the sorts of annotation I may do with a screen capture is very easy to do with paint.  I use IrfanView and other photo editors as well, but seldom for screen captures.

Hello,

If you are using Microsoft outlook then you can paste screenshot directly into email body.

That is

Open the program you want, press alt+print screen keystroce for active window or simply print screen for whole screen

Then open a new email in Microsoft Outlooc, move to body and press ctrl+v.

If you can send it via Skype then paste the screenshot into chat input box.

So, I have not done this in years, so I forgot. Does it make a sound after you copy it with CTRL c?
