Hi, Tom. This is the key which turns on Narrator in Windows 10, but I don’t think this works in Windows 7.

I think that is only windows 10.
Windows U will bring up all accessibility programs,
and alt + N sets it for Narrator.
Or you can do windows + R
and type in narrator and press enter.

Also be aware that Narrator as it exists prior to Windows 8/8.1 is not the Narrator you're used to in Windows 8/8.1 or 10.
I believe that even back in Windows 7 one enables/disables the ability to use whatever the built-in keyboard toggle for Narrator in Ease of Access settings, and what it is should be documented there. It will need to be turned on. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer |

Bill,
Thank you for the info. Narrator came on but it didn’t help. When I pressed tab, narrator would say tab and when I pressed up or down arrow it would say up arrow or down arrow. Jaws won’t speak on that computer and I thought narrator might help me figure out why. That computer has Windows 7 and Jaws 16. I guess I’ll have to wait until I have sighted help available to tell me what’s on the screen and get Jaws speaking.

Here's how you can put a shortcut icon on your desktop and you
could then assign a keystroke to it.
From: chris

You don’t really need an icon for narrator on your desktop, as control windows enter will both stop and start narrator. If you still want to place an icon, here’s how. To place an icon for narrator on your desktop, do the following. Press windows R and type: Shell:appsfolder Press enter. Find narrator in the list of applications. Press the applications key, or shift f10. Arrow down to open file location and press enter. Press the applications key again and arrow down to send to, sub menu. Press right arrow to open it and arrow down to, desktop create shortcut and press enter. This will do it.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go

Control+Windows-key+Enter. That is the toggle for Narrator, whether you start it from the edit box or if you start and stop it with that keystroke.
