Real stupid question here but you must enable pop first right from the outlook.com site? Good country gravy I hate that site.

Hi James,
Do you refer to using an Outlook.com account with Outlook 2016 and set it up as a POP account? If you use the default, i.e. you set up a new email account and simply enter your Outlook.com email address (or of course Hotmail.com, Live.com etc.) and password it will automatically get set up using the Exchange Active Sync protocol which syncs everything with the server. This means all your mail, contacts and so on are kept on the server and your PC merely downloads a local copy of that and keeps it synced. This way if you get a new PC, tablet or smartphone all you have to do is set up your account and all your mail, contacts and calendar entries/appointments magically appear on the new device.
Regards, Sieghard

Just as long as you have your server unload your in coming messages once they are delivered, you can have them deleted from the server. Your messages will still be in the inbox of Outlook 2016, but the messages has to be set from the server end. Just to double check, call Microsoft disability answer desk at (800)936-5900. James

Hi,
Last week, I noticed something was strange regarding my emails in outlook 2016 and outlook.com.
In outlook 2016, I had several emails that should be there and I’ve read but not deleted. However, on the outlook.com site, in the inbox I see all the messages. How come they are visible on outlook.com and not outlook 2016?
Thanks.

I sometimes find that I see emails on my iPhone from my Outlook.com account which I deleted on the omputer using Outlook 2016 and somehow the changes don’t sync to the phone. I have had it when I then tried to delete th email on the phone only to be told it can’t be done and in this case the only thing that seems to help is to delete the account and set it up again, then everything resyncs with Outlook.com and it’s fine. Generally Exchange and exchange Active Sync work well, but I guess the implementation in the iOS mail app is not perfect. On the other hand I tried to use the Outlook app and while it has some nice features I still prefer the iOS mail app on my iPhone.

Hi Keith:
That was the first thing I looked at. There is an all and undread button to click based on what you would like to view but that doesn’t change anything in definite, just temporary.
I’ll just delete and plug my account back in. There is an email I really need that I see on the outlook.com site that is not showing in my inbox.
