JAWS 2019 and Microsoft Word not working properly together
Ashleigh Piccinino
Hello all, Just now, I found that JAWS 2019 and Microsoft Word won’t work together nicely in some aspects. When I’m reading a document, of my own making, JAWS misses some words at times and repeats others—almost as if it’s wrapping up a few phrases/words. I have the document maximized when I’m reading with “say all.” Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? It doesn’t happen with JAWS 2018 as I’ve checked. Thank you, Ashleigh Piccinino

In my very humble but opinionated opinion, Jaws 2019 is buggy as hell. I’ve gone back to using 2018 and will wait for the update to 2019 to see if they fix anything. I’ve mentioned some of the issues I’ve had on this list, so won’t waste anyones time rehashing them.

To be perfectly blunt, JAWS 2019 was probably released prematurely.
Vispero seems to have a firm October 31 deadline by which they insist on
releasing the latest version of JAWS, regardless of whether or not it still has
known bugs that they haven’t have enough time to fix.

The new upgrade either going to be in early DECEMBER or first week of January. This year Freedom or Vispero™ will add new feature to their Jaws or ZT along with the update instead of adding new feature during SMA release.

Hi!
I too have found a few bugs with Word, Excel, and Outlook 2016 with JAWS 2019. However, I think it is *really* important for us all to first see if there is a solution to the problem to be found on this list, and failing that then to send the issue into JAWS for a spot on the bug fix cue. I have sent-in about three myself. We all want JAWS to be functional and stable. If we do not take the time to help fix things, they won’t be.
Respectfully, Richard M.

Thank you all for posting. I’m grateful for the 2018 update, and I plan to wait a while before upgrading to JAWS 2019. Maybe the company will have the bugs worked out by then. I depend on MS Word and don’t want to risk dealing with bugs when I have a version that works well for me. I never upgrade just to have the latest—waiting until some bugs are fixed.

Yes, there are some bugs. As we all know new software often has bugs at first launch. Many times when an issue is fixed, another string of code is broken although this is done by accident and often unknowingly. Many times too programmers cannot predict how a program will perform in all circumstances since there are so many possible scenarios. Now I know that Vespiro has not always been the greatest at catching bugs before release but I remind myself and others that while JAWS 2019 has a ways to go the release most likely was ready to the best of their knowledge.

Hello All
Just for your information and I do not remember it being stated by Vispero
but on contacting Vispero support I was informed that they no longer will
support Office 2010 or earlier, only Office 2013, 2016 and 2019 problems.
Keep Smiling!
Phil

Is it because of NVDA that you always put replies at the end of a message? I rarely ever read your messages because I typically don't feel like going through all the previous messages in the thread to see where you started writing. Also, and just to point out that I'm deliberately sarcastic here, if NVDA never fails why are you on a Jaws list?
Regards, Sieghard
