Why does JAWS read endless strings of numbers on websites? #cal-notice #excel #advisory
Marty Hutchings
I have noticed this for a while now with older through the new versions of JAWS that while reading through various websites, especially news sites with lots of ads that JAWS will get stuck reading these endless strings of numbers and symbols or what seems like code. They usually start with "http://... as if it is a URL for another site. If there a setting in verbosity that will limit or skip these anoyances?

That is because the webmaster did not use an "alt tag" on the pictures/grapfics. Those are usually the path to the graphic file. Quite annoying.

As Richard said, Jaws is reading the path to the graphics. Sloppy coding from someone who may be clueless about accessibility.
