can you save information from a web page to your desktop?
Tim Ford
You can use the desktop as you can any Windows folder. It is of course designed to show all the names in the folder, and saving a file to that folder is a handy way of finding it. You can later move the file to a different folder if you prefer.

Hi, how are you? I should have asked if I can save information from a web page then send that information to my desktop. I'm trying to send my personal credit report information to my desktop so that I can print it out.

Hi, David. Theoretically, you can save a webpage anywhere. The trick is that Internet Explorer, and sometimes other browsers, want to save information in the last folder in which you were working. So, for example, say I was last working in Music, and pasted something into the clipboard from there.
If I were to use CONTROL plus S to save a webpage to my computer, It would try to save that webpage in the Music folder, since that is where I last copied something from.
If you know how to use your "browse buttons, though, you can change where your browser is going to save a webpage or html document at any given time.

If the website has a print button and you use Windows 10 you can always use the Microsoft Print to PDF printer and save the file to your desktop (or documents folder), then you have a PDF file which you can open in Acrobat Reader and print on a printer or save or email to somebpody.

Regardless of which method one uses, and the MS Print to PDF is a good one, this is generally the best way to save webpage content in a way that is readable outside a web browser. I use PDF Creator, but the concept is precisely the same, it is a virtual printer that takes what it's given to "print" and puts it into a PDF file.
With regard to the original query, for a personal credit report, I would be surprised if there is not a "save as PDF" option somewhere on that webpage, but perhaps not. I know I've saved my credit reports in the past using a feature on the reporting entity's webpage, not via PDF Creator.
