speaking of YouTube...

On the skip commercials button, wait five seconds, then press F5. It works most of the time, though not all.

Is there a JAWS keystroke for commercial-skip on Youtube? I know sighted people can skip ads, but I’ve looked for a button that says “skip,” to no avail. Also, unrelated: is there a way to tune in radio online and still use JAWS, and if so, can the radio volume be reduced enough to still hear the screen reader well? Have you tried YourTube, the accessible YouTube web site? It's at http://www.povidi.com/yourtube/ It uses the accessible player from AFB to play YouTube videos and Channels. The buttons have shortcut keys. I didn't see a Skip Commercials button, but I did read something on the site about a lack of ads. Of course, they would like you to send a small donation if you use the site. Gary King w4wkz@... ----- Original Message -----

I went to this website…it sounds great, but how do I use it? I couldn’t find anything to download, an app or whatever…I think I did hear something on the home page about search, but I sort of like to browse around youTube, looking for something interesting, or only have a vague idea of what I’m searching for… any advice from those who use the yourTube? Also, does it work with Mac and VoiceOver? thanks. Alice On Aug 26, 2015, at 3:07 PM, Adrian Spratt via Jfw <jfw@...> wrote: Gary, |

I could be wrong, but there are a lot of things about You Tube that is unaccessible to us without any sight at all. I’ve never had the kind of funds that allow me to have a video camera and “broadcast” on it, so to speak or create videos and all that. Sighted people do this kind of stuff with ease, but, like someone has already said here, all I can do is search out something, like the occasional tutorial or, rather, demonstration. You Tube is yet another entertainment “channel”, as if you could own a TV where you can press a button or two and actually watch only what *YOU* want to watch when you want to watch it. But, like those kinds of TV’s, what you want to watch or listen to is not a priority. It is majority rule and if they like isn’t your cup o’ meat, well, you’re lost. |
