font and format configuration
Drew Hunthausen
Dear list,
I'm wondering if someone can help me with how to change the copy and past/ cut and paste options in word 2010. I know that there is a way to have word ask you what format you want to paste the text as, but I don't have that set up and really need to get that option. Any help is greatly appreciated. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... As far as pasting goes, under the home ribbon there is a pasting option

where after pressing spacebar, it will ask if you want to paste text only, paste special, or set default paste.

Here is one where it would potentially be helpful if we knew more

about your objective. Instead of using control plus v, if you use control plus alt plus v, you get an option every time as to the format you want. This works in both Word 2010 and Outlook 2010. If you paste as text or Unicode text, everything takes on the font in effect at the point where the paste takes place. There is also an option to paste as formatted text -- as well as several other options pasting format . In fact, I almost never use control plus v anymore.

Thanks! I believe what I needed was the control plus alt plus v instead of

the control v. I'll try it and report back.

I just tried this and it does do what you are describing. What I remember

doing and what I want to do is to paste text from a web site or another document into the one I am working on and have it format the text the same as the rest of my document. I have an article I am writing where I am pulling quotes from other places. Many of these quotes are formatted differently and are hyper links in their origin. I need to be able to copy and paste them into my document and have them be formatted like the rest of the text. I remember doing this when I first started using word 2010 and it was a life changer. Thanks so much

You could try first pasting your info into Notepad which would remove all

formatting. Then copy that and paste it into your Word doc. Just a thought! BOB SOUTAR.ONWARD THRU THE FOG

Not a bad thought, but why bother when Ctrl Alt V is an option.
