Also, if you are using Windows7 64-bit, make sure you downloaded the 64-bit version of 7zip. Once the program is installed, put all the books you wish to unzip into one folder. Then press control plus the letter a as in apple to select all the files. Then press the Applications key (or if you have a laptop without an Applications Key) press shift plus the f10 key for Applications. Press the number 7 on the number row, and then press the Enter key. When 7zip starts, arrow down to "Extract to Star Dot Star, and press the Enter Key again. The files should now extract. Also, if you don't have your computer's folder options to "show known file extensions, you may not be able to tell which files are the zip files, and which are the unzipped folders, because without this setting, it won't differentiate between the zip files and the unzipped ones. You click the Applications key to use the program once it is installed. You don't use the Applications Key to install the program. Thank you. Bill White billwhite92701@... ----- Original Message -----

From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-bounces@...] On Behalf Of Michael Boyd Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 10:12 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Subject: Re: question Hi Jane, Here's what you do to install 7zip. First, double click on the application file that you downloaded. Then, click "yes" at the UAC dialogue , and follow the remaining on screen instructions to install the program. When prompted to select if you would like to create a desktop icon, and/or to run the application from the system tray, be sure to uncheck both of these boxes. Just go ahead and finish the installation. When this is done, navigate to the "Program Files" folder, open it, and open the 7 Zip folder. Scroll down to the application file named either "7zipfm" or "7zfm". Right click on this file, and click on either "Create a shortcut" or "Send to". If you use "Send to", open this item and find and click on "Desktop (create short). Now, the installation is complerted. From this point forward, the .zip files that you download will appeare as 7zip files. To unzip one of these files, navigate to the file in your default download location, and right click on the file. Click on "Extract all." This will open 7 Zip, and you will be prompted to specify where you want to extract the folder to. By default, it will be extracted to the same folder where it currently resides, and a new file folder will be created there with the extracted files in it. Or, you can choose to extract them to another location if you wish. To do this, in the field where it has the path to the current folder, just type in the new location, I.e. x:\myextractedfiles\, where x is the letter of the drive to where you want to send the files. That's it! I hope this helps you to get 7 Zip up and running. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to post again. Mike The mind's eye is the open window to all things unseen.
