Outlook 2010, Reply Directly To Sender
Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>
Hi All,
Is there a keystroke for replying directly to a sender when wanting to reply privately to someone on an email list for Outlook 2010? I have a list of keystrokes & couldn't find it in the list so, if there is one would someone please clue me in? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much. Take care. I don't know a keystroke, although sometimes control-shift-r works. You can select the sender's name and copy/paste it, of course.

According to Anna Dresner's keystroke list from NBP, the JAWS command is insert-control-r. I don't have Outlook on this computer to test that, but I believe I recall that that didn't work for me.

When you say "list," do you mean a listserve, such as the one we're using here? In that case, it depends on the list. As you know, for this one, control+r sends your reply to everyone. JAWS key+shift+r is supposed to reply to sender, but I've found that although it worked for me in Outlook Express, it hasn't in Outlook 2010. On another list I subscribe to, control+r replies to sender, while control+shift+r replies to all members. If you're referring to a message sent to several people but not on a listserv, control+r replies to sender, while control+shift+r replies to all. This last is so dangerous that I've never used it! -----Original Message-----

Directly to sender does not work on my setup, because Outlook interprets "the sender" as the list.

It works sometimes. I just tried it on this message and checked to "to" field and it was to the group. Yes, sometimes it works but I would sure check the "to" field before I hit "send". Cy -----Original Message-----

I usually shift/tab up to the "from" field, back arrow a couple of times so the sender's name and such reads and then do a shift+down arrow to select the field, ctrl C to copy the info and then paste it into somewhere I can then separate the email address from the other info, copy that info into the "to" field and there you are. It is more work but it is also extremely reliable. There may be times when your reply to a group message really is intended *only* to the sender. (LOLLOLLOL) Cy -----Original Message-----

first the reply directly to sender jaws script doesn't work, the keystroke, insert+shift+r doesn't work. if you want to reply privately to a list member, 1, enter on the list message, now press alt+1, so, alt plus the number one key, you will see slash hear, from: Jfw [jfw-bounces@...]; on behalf of; Cy Selfridge [cyselfridge@...] so just right arrow select the address, copy to clipboard, now, escape out of message, and create your new message, or? simply shift+tab to the to edit field, erase/backspace and paste in the new address, and continue with the message, hope this helps. -----Original Message-----
