toggle between jaws readings

Kevin Lee <kleeva5@...>

is there a jaws key stroke to toggle the reading contents of jaws?
such as the virtual pc cursor, the jaws cursor etc... I’m using jaws 11;.0.1476 on windows 7 and I currently have jaws set to read all content and it does not read all content
email is golden!

Kevin,

The virtual cursor key combo , JAWS key+z, is a toggle. Otherwise, your PC key (numpad +) and JAWS cursor (numpad -, right above the PC cursor key) provide immediate access to the two other main cursors.

If I'm missing something, please post again.

I was refering to toggling without going into the jaws options menu
such as when a window poppsup sometimes jaws doesn't read it I contacting freedom scientific and they said some things can be read with the jaws cursor and other things with the virtual cursor reading all content is not the best solution
that wasn't the answer I was looking for so they suggested the jfw users group so here I am

Numpad-minus does not open the JAWS or any other menu. It switches to the JAWS cursor so you can do exactly what you describe here, which is read content that either the virtual or the PC cursor cannot.

The command to open the JAWS options menu is insert-j.

Hi,

You can use the key combo alt, jaws key and W this will virtualise just the current open dialog box/window. For example if you go to jaws help and about window and then use the key combo I mentioned you can then use cursor keys to scroll around. this is helpful if you want to copy and paste static text from a dialog box like in the jaws about dialog box you could once virtualized copy and paste the jaws version which you normally wouldn't be able to get to.

Hope this helps

Good point. In order to invoke this control and virtualize the window, you must first switch to the JAWS cursor.

Hi,

I could be totally wrong as I always confuse the different cursors, but I don't think you need to change to the jaws cursor, since if in the jaws cursor mode the screen is already virtualised as I think it is the jaws cursor used for things like internet where the screen needs to be virtualised automatically, so using the virtualise window command wouldn't do anything if the screen is already virtualised.

I just tested the virtualize window command while using the PC cursor, and you're right. I don't think it started out that way, but no matter. Now that I sit corrected, this could be useful.
