DECtalk Express with Windows 7/8 32/64-bit

Adrian Spratt

My question is whether anyone on this list has actual experience to confirm
that DECtalk Express works with 32-bit versions of Windows 7 or 8 and, which
hasn't been asked before, with 64-bit versions of those operating systems?

to be clear, I'm not talking about the USB or software versions of Dectalk.
Just the hardware, Dectalk Express.

Thanks.

I saw on the DecTalk site that they claim it should work, con't you
get a unit for testing, if not then you should contact them for
confirmation.

I assume you're referring to the DECtalk USB site. DECtalk Express is no
longer manufactured, and I'm one of the few lucky people who still has one.

When introduced about five years ago, the DECtalk USB raised hopes that the
old DECtalk Express was being resurrected and even improved. Unfortunately,
it works very differently. It isn't as clear or as quick to respond to
keyboard commands.

Adrian I am one of the lucky ones as well, but I have not been able to get
mine to work with windows 7 64 computer. Right after 7 came out I read that
one person got a USB or cearal adaptor to work. I could not get the adaptor
that I got to work. If you should hear how to get the dec--talk to work
please pass it on to me.
