how do you use webvisum/
Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi, I installed firefox and downloaded the plug in or add on for webvisum.. I went to Yankeemagazine.com to send an e-card. This is one of those site that want you to type in the 2 words which I thought firefox would take care of but, I don’t know how to activate what firefox and or, the add on to work... What am I doing wrong? Andy

read the very simple Webvisum help page.
So you signed up at webvisum.com and installed the add-on successfully? Do you know it is logging into Webvisum when you launch Firefox? Put your cursor in the text box where you are prompted to type the letters you see on the screen. Pull up the context menu by using the keyboard command for right mouse click. Web Visum puts the solution on your clipboard. You can then type control plus V to put it in the text box. I've found that there are some letter combinations that are so scrambled that Web Visum doesn't recognize them. If this happens, there's usually a way to ask for another image.

Alternatively, send the capcha to webvisum by pressing CONTROl+ALT+6, then when prompted, CONTROL+V to paste into the appropriate place.

Assuming you have successfully registered with Webvisum and are logged on, just visit the page that contains the image captcha and press Alt-Control-numrow 6 to submit it to Webvisum for analysis. When the captcha has been decoded, which could take about 30 seconds or so, you will hear a message that it has been added to your clipboard. Then just paste it into the appropriate edit field.

These instructions are clear. As Chris and Gerald have pointed out, you can save yourself a keystroke or two by pressing control+alt+6 instead of using the applications key or right mouse. This number 6 is the one on the number row, above the letters. To confirm that Webvisum is loaded and active, listen for the Webvisum message that JAWS speaks each time Firefox opens. If anyone believes they've installed Webvisum but hear no Webvisum message when FF opens, there are two ways to check activation. Post a query if these instructions are needed. (I don't feel like figuring them out again unless there's a reason to!)

Also note that if Firefox has been running awhile webvisum has a

tendency to disappear from the menus. I'm not sure what conditions cause it but closing all firefox windows cures it.
