can't get punctuation some to stay
Deb and the girls
I can not seem to get the some Punctuation to stay in quick settings in basics.
I have tried everything but when I leave a program and return later, it is back to most instead of the Some I prefer. Deb

As far as I know the quick settings are transient, if you want to make

it permanent do the following: Use the voice profile window (jaws+j, options->voices->voice adjustment, and create a profile with the settings you want, then use jaws+ctrl+s and assign that new profile to the application (you have to hit tab in the profile selection window to move to the application assignment list from the default assignment list).

Which version of Jaws are you having the problem with? Take care. Mike

Hi,
Deb wrote: "I can not seem to get the some Punctuation to stay in quick settings in basics." Press your applications key (or SHIFT+F10) when focussed on the option in Quick Settings. You should land in a context menu where you can set the percistence of the setting - move to 'Save the Setting' and press ENTER to check it. If, when pressing the applications key, you only see an option that says 'Go to Setting in Tree', press ENTER on this and repeat the process. If this doesn't work, you will need to go through the Options/Voices/Voice Adjustment... dialog as another lister described. Matthew

I don't see any discrepancy, the two do different things.

Say for one application you want '?' to still be spoken despite your using a setting of 'no punctuation' for that profile, you would modify the settings center punctuation dialog in that case. But as far as I am aware, the punctuation level in use is strictly a matter of the voice profile in use and is not effected by the application profile (of course, you could go through the punctuation dialog and alter every symbol individually but that would be a slow way to perform that particular task when you could just create a different profile instead). Does that clear up why I answered these two questions in the way I did?
