Unassisted windows 7 install

Nickus de Vos <bigboy529@...>

Hi want to find out if it's possible to install windows 7 without
sighted assistance? Can you switch on narrator or something with some
keystroke?

Shane Davidson <shane@...>

This isn't a jaws issue, please take it to a more appropriate list like
blindtech.

Dave,

It's a zip file of steps necessary to do the process. I can't post here. I
won't bother with a Drop or SendSpace. Since I couldn't reply directly to
you I'll need you to send me your E-Mail and I'll pass along the zip file

I believe this is a JAWS issue and here's why:

Because JAWS does not come pre-loaded in a Windows install like Voiceover does, there is a "bootstrapping" process that one must endeavor to repeat in order to install Windows so that JAWS can then be installed.

Generally, I'm in favor of keeping the list on topic, especially when folks abuse the priviledge. But I don't think this is the case here and there seems to be widespread interest in the topic, as it's a situation faced by every JAWS user sooner or later.

Or so it seems to me.

The instalation of Windows, while yes is a prerequisit for the instalation
of JAWS, does not automatically lead to the instalation of JAWS. It also has
nothing to do with the overall functioning or operation of JAWS, due to the
fact that during that process, JAWS cannot and does not exist. Therefore,
this thread does not apply. You may discuss it if you wish, however,
off-list.

here and there seems to be widespread interest in the topic, as it's
a situation faced by every JAWS user sooner or later.

Or so it seems to me.

Hi want to find out if it's possible to install windows 7 without
sighted assistance? Can you switch on narrator or something with
some keystroke?

hey folks, our list owner has twice called this off topic, agree or not is not the question, but know this, your question will be gladly answered spoken of and is on topic on the blind windows 7 list:
blindwindows7-subscribe@...
or on, blind geek zone:
blindgeekzone-subscribe@...
or most definitely on my/our blind access help list:
blindaccesshelp-subscribe@...
I have several others as well that I can toss to you if you ask me off list, since the list owner requires it.

good luck,

Thank you Ben. We all use windows but have to install windows in order
to install jaws and it's not as if we subscribed to this list just to
ask this question, I'm a jaws user like everybody else on this list. I
think people on the list should chil, if a topic doesn't concern you,
why do you open the mail in the first place.

Generally, I'm in favor of keeping the list on topic, especially when

Darrell Bowles <DGBOWLES@...>

Well, actually, I am interested in creating an unassisted windows install,
as quite truly, There may come a time whare I might need to reinstall it.
Saying that this has nothing to do with jaws is not true. JAWS may not
come preinstalled like VoiceOver, but that has little to do with JAWS users
needing the help. Now, I used N Lite to create my answer file, and burned
my copy of windows to a disc like you're supposed to. What is supposed to
happen if the install worked, and what should I do after I insert the CD.
Also, what about the boot file inside the original CD?
Thanks,
Darrell

James,

This seems like a heavy-handed solution to a thread that was seeing valuable
input from a lot of folks.

Frankly, someone else said "Chill" and I have to agree with them.

James, no offence but do you think if I wasn't a jaws user I would have
subscribed to this list just to ask this question? Yes I get what you
are saying installing windows doesn't automatically mean you're going
to install jaws but I've been on this list for a long time now and
wouldn't have been if I wasn't a jaws user. My personal opinion is that
people mustn't even open mails if the topic doesn't concern them, if I
have to open every mail coming from this list I'll go crazy.

Therefore, this thread does not apply. You may discuss it if you
wish, however, off-list.
