Hi all i'm using windows 7 and jaws 11. I'm looking in to trying different web browsers. 1. I know that firefox is accessible but which version works best with jaws 11. 2. Is safari at all accessible and if so, also which version? 3. Is opera accessible? Thanks in advance.

Dave Scrimenti <dscrimenti@...>

Get the latest Firefox. I don't think the other 2 are accessible, but haven't personally tried.

Nickus:

What a coincidence, I posted the same question to the llist about FireFox myself about 20 minutes ago, not even knowing you had already asked the question.

The latest version? I thought that didn't work too well? They're at version 5 now, with 6 on the way; considering that even 4 is fairly new I think they're throwing them at users far too quickly, and all of a sudden...better to stick with the version that you know works, in this case, probably version 4.

Using Firefox 5 with no problems. That is, no more problems than any other version. Supposedly it's a bit difficult to get it working with Web Visum, but I've heard conflicting reports on that, and haven't tried it myself.

Firefox 5 keeps crashing on me. It's especially annoying when I'm
downloading a file. I'm not sure what the problem is but there you have it.

Dave:

I found, downloaded and installed FireFox Version 4.

During the installation of FireFox, there is a prompt about importing settings from Internet Explorer or, do not import anything.

Is it a good idea to install the settings from internet Explorer into FireFox?

By importing these settings does it change the look and feel of FireFox, to make FireFox, look and feel like internet Explorer?

Any help and advice are most welcome.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Dave Scrimenti <dscrimenti@...>

I haven't done it, but it should. It imports: internet options, history, cookies, and favorites. By the way, you don't have to do this during the install. You can import any time from the file menu in Firefox. One thing I have found extremely useful is a Firefox extension called "plain old favorites". Just google it, and install it. It puts your internet Explorer favorites on your Firefox menu bar. Now you don't ever have to worry about synchronizing your IE favorites and Firefox bookmarks. Everything's in the favorites, and their available to you in IE, Firefox, and really, anywhere in Windows. I also like favorites more than bookmarks because favorites is a folder that you can access in Windows Explorer. Firefox saves bookmarks as a single file, so it's not accessible with Explorer.
