Well I guess job-related is all relative. I never have to use Excel, but need Sonar to do my work. I don't recall an update of those scripts since the days when Sonar was called Cakewalk, years and years and years ago. Fortunately jSonar, and CakeTalking, (for a price) have come to the rescue, but it's FS's responsibility as far as I'm concerned. If FS spent 10% of the time on other stuff that they spend on Office, we'd have a lot more accessible programs.

Gee. I'm feeling marginalized. Why does Eric send out messages to that list
and not ours? Have we been so caustically-critical of FS they feel they
should be ignoring us?

David, thanks in any case for the message. However given my feelings on the
topic I would not want to encourage further development of ResearchIt,
particularly in the area of non-job-related features. Of course if I were a
sports reporter giving updates on a radio station I guess having access to
scores might be important, but that I am not. I'm just an engineer who needs
to use Excel a whole lot of the time.

Research It

Greetings all,

Nobody is more disappointed to have lost the MLB option in Research It more
than I am. Especially when you consider the tight race in the American
League East where my Sox are doing battle once again with the Yanks and the
Rays. Anyway, here is the scoop on what has happened.
About a week or 10 days ago, ESPN made modifications to how they expose
sports results in an effort to block many different products that had been
tapping into ESPN to get the info in real time and display it. We believe
this was done in an effort to get more organizations to purchase access to
the data and prevent anyone from getting it otherwise. This will not only
impact MLB on Research It, but all of the sports.

We have been investigating the MLB site itself and many other places like
YAHOO but so far, have not found any site that exposes the information away
that will work. We are also reaching out to ESPN and trying to explain who
we are and what we are doing in order to see if we can get them to work with
us. If any of you who use Research It to get access to daily scores would be
willing, please write to them at:
https://r.espn.go.com/members/contact/index

Please be polite and remember, they are not targeting JAWS and Research It
when they make these changes. It would be helpful to explain to them how
beneficial it has been to use Research It in order to get the scores and
schedules without having to weed through all the extra information presented
on very busy web pages. I'm sure that together, we can all work this out and
FS will get this fixed and working again as quickly as possible.

Ken, I talked with someone from FS about the MLB scores feature not working,
and they told me that ESPN was going to charge them to continue using them,
so they are now looking for someone else. They say they're working on
fixing the problem, but the scores feature hasn't worked in a month now.
Doesn't appear they're in a big hurry.

Hi list, for the last few days I can’t get research it to click the full
forecast link in weather. also am not getting to read MLB scores. it
says clearly type using the Date in a dd/mm/yyy format but it is saying
research it found now results. Now that newsline is using the ticker on
the AP feed it’s easier to use research it. any ideas?

Yeah so NCAA football,NHL, NFL won't work Huh? BTW figured out why forecast wasn't working, somehow, firefox had undefaulted itself. when I tested firefox it asked if I wanted to make it default. so it works again. Maybe Jaws should go with fox sports or CNN.

Just make sure that you type information correctly in the research it
edit box ; if you do miss a one single step , research won't give you
the anticipated result.
