Outlook 2016 crashes when running JAWS
As a post script on this problem. I just tried launching Outlook 2016, then launching JAWS and now it’s working fine. So, the problem occurs if I have JAWS 2018 running and then launch Outlook.

David, Is there a downside to using the laptop layout that I should know about? I primarily use my laptop in a docking station with a full keyboard.

I’m interested to try this approach. I have tended to just clear my autocomplete list in Outlook Options once in a while.
