I asked about this the other day and only got one answer. I thought you would all like to know that it is possible to use two number pads at the same time with one turned on and the other turned off.

You might want to check that all of the connections inside the tower are tight. It seems that when we turn the computer on and off, it causes the connections to become loose and may cause some issues.
