From what I've been reading, Avast is doing a better job. I have actually found things with Avast, that MSE has failed to detect.

I have been using Avast Free since late 2009, I've never had any issues as far as screen readers being detected as threats.

I use the free version of Avast. It works fine with JAWS.

These two are really good! Another paid antivirus that is extremely good is Bitdefender also paid.

I use Abby Finereader. I scan the documents into word documents. It works pretty good for me.
