as John suggested, you can put the command in a desktop shortcut and
assign a shortcut to trigger a shutdown.

in the target edit field type exactly or copy/paste:

C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0

the keystroke I assigned is control+alt+shift+s. assign whatever keys
you'd like.

the s is for shutdown and the t is for milliseconds.
you can create one for restarting, just sub r for s.

Are you talking about using the run command?
Unloading jaws, loading Narrator and doing a standard shut down or
restart seems easier until I find out why the ---- this is happening.

I am no longer getting the shut down anyway. I've had my wife look, and
after a very short couple of seconds, it just sits there saying shutting

I've waited several minutes until I have to just power it off.
But, this never happens if I'm running narrator at the time of shut down.

If I have Jaws 2018, or Jaws 2019 load at login and after login, when I
go to shut down or restart, the operation is blocked and there is
nothing I can do other than power down.

I only had one version loading of course, but I tried with each separately.

If I use Narrator at login and after login, I can restart or shut down

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how was it resolved?

So is this folder of shortcuts on your hard drive?
You probably could copy and paste the folder on to your desktop.
Or, create a shortcut to the folder and put it on the desktop.

Hello,

There is a nice and easy way to deal with bookmarks in Chrome,
favorites in IE, etc. Personally,

I think that accessing and managing bookmarks in Chrome in Firefox is
very clunky. By

contrast, it is extremely easy to access and manage favorites in IE.

If you create a desktop shortcut for your favorites folder, you can
open the favorites in whatever

browser you have chosen as your default. I have Chrome as my default
browser, maintain all my

favorites in IE, and open them from the desktop with Chrome. I make no
effort to maintain

Are you talking about using the run command?
Unloading jaws, loading Narrator and doing a standard shut down or restart seems easier until I find out why the ---- this is happening.

I am no longer getting the shut down anyway. I've had my wife look, and after a very short couple of seconds, it just sits there saying shutting down.
I've waited several minutes until I have to just power it off.
But, this never happens if I'm running narrator at the time of shut down.

If I have Jaws 2018, or Jaws 2019 load at login and after login, when I go to shut down or restart, the operation is blocked and there is nothing I can do other than power down.

I only had one version loading of course, but I tried with each separately.

If I use Narrator at login and after login, I can restart or shut down with no issues what so ever.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how was it resolved?

Hello,

There is a nice and easy way to deal with bookmarks in Chrome, favorites in IE, etc. Personally,

I think that accessing and managing bookmarks in Chrome in Firefox is very clunky. By

contrast, it is extremely easy to access and manage favorites in IE.

If you create a desktop shortcut for your favorites folder, you can open the favorites in whatever

browser you have chosen as your default. I have Chrome as my default browser, maintain all my

favorites in IE, and open them from the desktop with Chrome. I make no effort to maintain

bookmarks in Chrome or Firefox, And in Windows 10, it is very easy to change your default

Thanks Keith,
But since Jaws was the only thing running, I'm going to, when I am not quite so frustrated, uninstall all FS products and reinstall.
Something is royally messed up with Jaws.
This is not the only issue.

Subject: Blocked shutdown

If I have Jaws 2018, or Jaws 2019 load at login and after login, when I go to shut down or restart, the operation is blocked and there is nothing I can do other than power down.

I only had one version loading of course, but I tried with each separately.

If I use Narrator at login and after login, I can restart or shut down with no issues what so ever.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how was it resolved?

Thanks,

Richard

I am no longer getting the shut down anyway. I've had my wife look, and after a very short couple of seconds, it just sits there saying shutting down.
I've waited several minutes until I have to just power it off.
But, this never happens if I'm running narrator at the time of shut down.

Hi, sometimes I get that "Block shutdown" message. tabbing takes me through
the open items MS suggests I close. More tabbbing takes me to a "shutdown
anyway" option. Enter on that and your shutdown should proceed.

My laptop shuts down on its own as well after a block shutdown message.
