Subject: How to get to mailbox folder navigation tree without F6 in Outlook 2016

Hi!

I am using JAWS 2019 under Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  In Outlook 2007, I used to be able to tab from my mailbox list view (listing all the emails therein) to the tree view showing all my various mailboxes (e.g., sent, deleted, drafts, etc.).  I think this tree view is called the “navigation pane.”  Now, in Outlook 2016 as I tab from the list view it seems only to go to the “search pane.”  Strangely, somehow I was able to tab into the navigation pane previously, but not anymore.  Now, to get to the navigation pane I must cycle through F6.

Thanks,

Richard

Re: Ccleaner replacement

Chris,

You are correct in your assessment of registry cleaners in general, not just CCleaner's (which, at least, must be intentionally run as it's not a part of default cleaning).  I know of no one who's a "tech geek" with any depth of experience who recommends using these.

For those that are looking for a comprehensive junk file cleaner I'd suggest you take a look at Singular Labs' System Ninja.  I cannot swear that it is accessible, but given both its interface style and its length of remaining relatively unchanged I'd strongly suspect it will be.  At any rate, for personal use it's free so the readership here can certainly download, assess accessibility, and report back.

Or you can press Control-Spacebar to deselect the current file and then read the status bar with Insert-NumPad 3. I think the status bar will show the true count even if a file is selected. It will just say "1 file selected" after the count.

Steve,

That's the way it has been ever since I was forced to switch to JAWS from Window-Eyes. You can't get an accurate count.

I have a folder which has over 200 files in it and JAWS always says so-many of 45.

This has been annoying me for some time now, but today it annoyed me enough to scare me. I have a directory that I absolutely know has fifty-one files in it. Sometimes when I'm looking at files toward the top of the list, JAWS says the file is numbered one of twenty-three, or maybe some other higher number first, then "of twenty-three," and if I'm further down the list, JAWS may say "so-and-so of twenty-nine." Never do I hear "so-and-so of fifty-one." This is in Windows 10, 1803, build 345, the window is maximized, I'm in list view, I even tried details view, same thing. Anybody have any i-dears? I'm all ears. LOL

List view appears to work correctly.

Re: Ccleaner replacement

Chris Hill

c-cleaner was handy for a few limited situations.  I'd never run it just for the heck of it, though.  Registries generally never get enough junk in them that cleaning would make a noticeable difference, and you're always taking the chance that the program will mess things up rather than fix them.  The last time I did some actual testing, a system that I'd been using for a while had about as much in the registry after a complete reinstall as it had had before.  Programs like c-cleaner were solving problems that, for the most part, didn't exist.

what shortcut key are you useing to open the list?
use control i or control b. then you will get the entire bookmark list and you can use the search box to find your bookmarks.
also with me the other bookmarks is the last menu in the list so i can just press control end to go directly to it.
you have to open the sub menu first before you can arrow down this list.
if it is closed it will tell you.
this applies to all of the links that are in a sub menu too.

So my question is whether those problems have been fixed? Or if not

This is my first windows 10 laptop so I'm not sure what works best and

Thanks for any recommendations.

Yes. The current version, 60.3.4, works well with JAWS  17 and up. A
previous recent version did not work with anything older than JAWS 2018,
but that appears to have been remedied with 60.3, as I discovered just
the other day when I forgot to put JAWS 2018 on, and Firefox did not
give me the message that my screenreading technology had been disabled.
Nice one, Mozilla!
