I had to laugh out loud.

If my former coworkers heard anyone refer to my Jaws knowledge as “expertise,” they would be falling on the floor.

I spent years at work having to use Jaws when I would rather have been using Window-eyes and am afraid I let my work-place language slip quite a few times.

Since Window-Eyes will have been gone now for 6 years on May 15th, I’ve grown accustomed to Jaws’ face; whether I like it or not, grin.

I’m glad that helped. I only learned that setting a couple of months ago.

Enjoy,

Great!

The 6 is where it is on most USB ergonomic keyboards so you use your left index finger if you are a touch typist, which does take some brain contortions for sure to break 50 plus years of habit.

Did you see my explanation of the keys?

Yes, device 1 is tied to the USB dongle.

Hi

I just got this keyboard delivered from Amazon today. This message is the first one I’ve typed with it, so I’m currently learning what I think. So far I like it, and I’m typing faster on it than on the K780. The design is a little different, but I’ll get used to that. The only thing that I wish was different is where the 6 is on the top row of numbers. I feel sort of like a contortionist to hit it. I’ve also learned the OFF switch is your friend. It prevents accidentally hitting a key that can make things very confusing. Let’s put it this way. I think I hit the Media key. If I did, I now know F4 is for the Calculator. Also, I needed eyes to get it paired. I don’t think DEVICE 1 works with Bluetooth, but all’s fine now. This keyboard is definitely larger than what I was using, but it’s sure nice to have the sixpack back again.

That’s all from me.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

I'd like to talk to one of those reps. I noted the requirements as outlined. It is find to say the person should be able to speak English. However, with some, you could speak English but, because English is not their first language, they are themselves, thinking in their native language and you could talk till the cows come home, they still don't understand you. Or, their accent is so strong, they are not understandable. This is not a racist comment either. Some whose first language is English, still do not have the comprehensive skills to be understood/understand what you are asking them. or, are just plain lazy. I think also, it is a buy-product of the virus. I asked a rep from a booking agency for something yesterday and, she made the sound of a horse and promptly disconnected the call. Honey, if you miss being around horses that much maybe you should return to the farm and stay off the phone lines. Stop inflating your qualifications. Then there was a website designer, whose grammatical and spelling mistakes in his email were so atrocious, I thought if he cares so little about mistakes in grammar or spelling, I don't want his help with building a website. I'd probably give him the text I wanted, and he'd butcher it.

Greetings - I have recently paired my Toorun M26 Blue Bluetooth headset with
my HP laptop. I am running the latest Jaws 2021 and Windows 10 with all
updates. When I attempt to read an e-mail message or text file, the first
characters of a line of text or a whole line of text will not be read.
Sometimes I can get the whole line to read through the headset if I press
the up and down arrow keys to move off and back onto the line of text. I do
not have this problem when using wired earbuds with the HP laptop. I have
not been able to find any setting that has any effect on what is read with
the Toorun M26 headset and Jaws 2021. I have not had any problems with the
headset failing to provide audio output as expected with earbuds or headset.

Any suggestions for getting consistent reading from my headset/laptop combo?

Well there lies the nature of currency.
It used to be that our dollar was based on gold, and before that silver.
You might find this interesting:
https://od.lk/d/N18xOTM2NzczNDRf/Historic%20Bimetallism%20%26%20Wizard%20of%20Oz%20-%2001.mp3
I converted the text to an MP3.
But the US dollar is no longer backed by anything, and the treasury is just
printing money out of thin air.
At least the blockchain of cryptocurrency is limited and like shares of
stock, when all are sold that can be sold, they halve to make more crypto
shares.

I am not convinced that you must use a hard-wallet.

The app can be problematic, so be aware of that.

Also, do not loose your seed words. You can get another Ledger but you
must have the seed words.

This choice is good as you are able to store manage multiple types of
currency.

Hi,

As I start down the road of CryptoCurrencies, I've learned that folks
need
a hard wallet for keeping their Cryptos.

One I'm starting with looking at is the Nano S by Ledger.

I'm wondering if anyone has used any crypto wallet software with Jaws
and
if it works okay.

I don't want to drop 60 bucks on this thumb drive if the software for
managing cryptos does not work with Jaws.

Thanks for any info on this, or related.

Subject: Outlook and Google calendar question

Hi all,
Is it possible for me to somehow sync my Google and Outlook calendars? If
this is possible then I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me how to
do it.
The reason I ask is because I've been trying to add my favourite sports
teams'
schedules to my Outlook calendar with absolutely no luck so yesterday I
decided that since I have a google account that I'd try and add them to my
Google calendar and knock on wood I think it worked, but I really don't
want to have to log into my Google account everyday just to check my
calendar. I'm using the latest versions of Jaws, Edge, Office 365 and
Windows 10, but I also have Google Chrome and Firefox installed so if it'd
be better for me to use one of these browsers then I can do so. Really hope
someone can help me!!! Thanks Madison

Is this the latest JAWS update?

Previous updates had to use Silenceo, with the latest JAWS 2021,I no longer have to use Silenceo.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Subject: Bluetooth Headset Not Reading First Dozen-or-so Characters or Line of Text

Greetings – I have recently paired my Toorun M26 Blue Bluetooth headset with my HP laptop. I am running the latest Jaws 2021 and Windows 10 with all updates. When I attempt to read an e-mail message or text file, the first characters of a line of text or a whole line of text will not be read. Sometimes I can get the whole line to read through the headset if I press the up and down arrow keys to move off and back onto the line of text. I do not have this problem when using wired earbuds with the HP laptop. I have not been able to find any setting that has any effect on what is read with the Toorun M26 headset and Jaws 2021. I have not had any problems with the headset failing to provide audio output as expected with earbuds or headset.

Any suggestions for getting consistent reading from my headset/laptop combo?

Yes.

Open the Jaws settings center with insert+6 on the numbers row.

Press control+shift+d to open the default settings.

Arrow down to user and right arrow, then arrow down until you find this setting:

JAWS Settings Center - Default (All Applications)
Avoid speech cut off when using Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards

I’m assuming it is not checked, so hit your spacebar and then tab to OK and hit enter.

I'm not yet either, but I think that the bluetooth ones especially will become usable like a credit card.
Plus, it's like owning real precious metals as apposed to gold or silver bonds.

I am not convinced that you must use a hard-wallet.

The app can be problematic, so be aware of that.

Also, do not loose your seed words. You can get  another Ledger but you must have the seed words.

This choice is good as you are able to store manage multiple types of currency.

Hi,

As I start down the road of CryptoCurrencies, I've learned that folks need a hard wallet for keeping their Cryptos.

One I'm starting with looking at is the Nano S by Ledger.

I'm wondering if anyone has used any crypto wallet software with Jaws and if it works okay.

I don't want to drop 60 bucks on this thumb drive if the software for managing cryptos does not work with Jaws.

Thanks for any info on this, or related.

Glenn

And there’s a new development in the latest version of Office 365 now Brian. It actually tells you the number of results found, where it didn’t used to.  So MS are sending that to the screen reader, since it does it with JAWS, NVDA and Narrator.

All the best

A second on that!   I love the advanced find on those occasions where I need to very carefully circumscribe what will come back in the results, but for simple keyword searches I use the same method you do.  (Both of these options, by the way and for others, have been "just like they are now" for as long as I can remember in Outlook, and that's quite a while.)
