Re: more on my jaws issue.
T. Civitello
I have been following this thread and have two suggestions. 1. Call Freedom
Scientific Monday morning. They will get into your computer remotely and resolve
the problem. 2. Try one of the registry cleaner
programs. I had a problem where Windows Live Mail would not install for
me. I scoured the Internet and followed the suggestion to use a registry cleaner
program, tried it and it worked. Tom
Have you tried to redownload the JAWS 2021 file
again. It should install weather you have a license or not.

Jaws too verbose with Zoom
Norma A. Boge
Hi group,
I’m using Jaws 2020.2008.24 on my Win 10 PC. There are times, When tabbing around in Zoom, Jaws says “Alerts Enabled. before identifying what is currently in focus. This has been happening since I began using Zoom in April. Would someone please let me know what I need to do to get rid of this message.
Thanks, Norma

Re: Forms mode: your preferences
Cohn, Jonathan
I really dislike automatic, too many times, I have found that automatic turns off forms mode when I don't want it too. Either because I moved passed the end of what I was inputting, or because Javascript code changed something in the input area and forms mode flipped out. I usually, use semi-automatic except in places where I have overridden it with manual. The hardest part about manual forms mode is that if you let somebody else use your computer, they have the hardest time with the fact that when you click on an input field, and then type aa character it is grabbed by the Virtual Cursor and JAWS moves somewhere else.

problem with jaws 2021 sending email with gmail - ms edge
Jim Ruby
Hi, Since upgrading from jaws 2020 to jaws 2021 wen replying to email
jaws don't behave like it did in 2020. when I finish a reply and click send jaws does not update and I still see my message in the edit field and I can not click on any links, it does nothing. steps. open gmail use the html view click on a message go down to the reply edit field and enter a message and click send At this point jaws breaks or at least is no longer responding like it did in 2020 In jaws 2020 you would hear message sent and the reply edit field would be empty and you could go down and click the link to return the the mail box you were working in such as in box. If I go back to jaws 2020 it works as expected. Anyone else noticing this?

Re: Forms mode: your preferences

I have forms mode set to manual. it is just as easy to type e to navigate to an edit field and see if it's the one that's needed. I don't like the automatic setting for forms mode especially when just reviewing what's on a web page. semi automatic is ok but I still prefer manual.

Re: having trouble with links
Shirley Tracy
Hi Jim,
That’s part of my problem. I’m using Gmail through MS Mail with JAWS 2021. Someone else suggested clicking on the first or second letter of the link, and it does help in most cases. Funny, sometimes a link will work and sometimes the same link will not work. I have also learned to wait a bit after I enter the link. Apparently, it sometimes takes a while for it to work. I have often been impatient.

Hi, I am having the same problem on gmail. I If I type my email and just press enter on the send button the email will send, but jaws will not update so it looks like the email is not sent, but if I move the cursor to the second or third letter on the button it works. however if I continue to scroll down and try and hit the link to go back to the mail box I am working in I can never get that to work. I'm using gmail in html with ms edge with latest jaws 2021.

Re: Office 2019 vs Office 365
Richard Turner
For what it is worth, I’ve subscribed to 365 for several years and have never had any accessibility issues. I opt to download and install the stand-alone version. If having a downloaded version ever goes away, which I doubt, then I will look at Open Office.

My concern about the subscription model is that improvements sometimes mean compromises of accessibility. I waited to buy Office 2016 until it looked like obvious accessibility hitches had been fixed. It looks like Office 2019 is now also in good shape. I’ll be sorry when I have no choice but to migrate to 365.

Office 2019 is a one time purchase, but keep in mind that at some point in time Microsoft is going to stop offering updates for that when the next version comes out. With office 365 you continue to receive all the updates, so you’re currently running the most up-to-date code.

Hi Mike!
To answer your question, an “audiophile” is someone who is interested in very high audio fidelity; typically involving very high-end, sophisticated audio equipment.

When it comes the time when I cannot get a standalone version of Microsoft Office I'll finally make the leap to LibreOffice or SoftMaker Office Free. Well, If you think audio is only properly reproduced through specialized components and very sophisticated speakers and are willing to build them yourself or spend a lot of money for them then you are a audiophile. There are tons of audio forums on the net and I don't know if a blind specific one would get much traffic. you can e-mail me privately and we could talk. I have build cross overs and speaker systems for years and am getting back into it again with a dual 18" sub woofer build and a single 21" sub build. Basically large subs that you wont find in any box store or most brick and mortar stereo shops. At least not for several time the cost. On 11/20/2020 8:54 AM, mike mcglashon wrote:
