Hi there.

The one that I’ve used most successfully is VMware player.

Or you can use VMware workstation but that is a paid product.

Hope this helps

Yes, it works quite well and you could certainly start a blog.

Just make sure that in the editor window, you set it to Text rather than Visual.

Hello,

Does anyone here use Wordpress with their computer and Jaws? I also read that there are tutorials to use it, but again, I don’t know if that’s using it with jaws. Could I get some information from you guys on how well it works and whether or not I can start a blog?

I tried the key combination ctrl+jaws+tab and it brought me to the label box that I saw whenst I pressed jaws+f2?

Is there some other combination for prompting?

You shouldn’t need to do that. There’s also another function in JAWS which might work in your situation.

Creating a Prompt

To create a prompt:

Move to the control for which the prompt is not properly spoken.

Press CTRL+INSERT+TAB.

A dialog box appears to walk you through the creation of the prompt. On the first page, enter the prompt for the control as you want JAWS to speak it,

and then select Next.

On the second page, enter the prompt for the control as you want JAWS to display it in Braille, and then select Next.

On the third page, specify a Tutor message to provide assistance with navigation or the use of this control. If you leave the Tutor message blank, the

default message is used. Select Finish to create your prompt.

I went and did as you prescribed,
It took the label and I hit OK and then when I Erold back across the button it’s still sad and label zero button.
My question then is does this feature work when you are on the webpage with using the virtual cursor?
Or does it only work when you’re using the web page with the jars virtual cursor turn off?

This is appropriate for labeling buttons.

1. Put focus on the item you want to label.

3. Arrow to custom label. This will open a window that allows you to assign a label that makes sense.

            I have no idea why JAWS might occasionally say "Outlook Express" if you're actually using Windows Live Mail, particularly one of the later versions, but if you know that's what you're using it's probably some peculiarity about timing and what gets exposed to the screen reader for reading at a split second in time.

            If you're using the Windows 10 Mail App I would hope there's never be mention of Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail in any way, shape, or form.

I also forgot to say that on these types of windows,

I cannot f6 or shift f6 either, nothing happens when I do;

Usually if I f6 or shift f6, it will switch between the content window and the address bar and download files menus if I downloaded something;

In this case, f6 and shift f6 do nothing;

I was going to copy and past the xm page I was on when this happens,

But I can’t even go to alt+d to get to address bar;

But if you go the Sirius xm college football schedule page,

This phenomenon occurs;

Hey guys,

I write this in a jaws context because I am not sure how else to address the issue.

I am using win10 jaws2018 and chrome;

Some pages I go too, don’t allow me to use alt to open the menus,

And further, those same pages don’t allow me to do a ctrl+d to add to favorites?

It doesn’t seem to matter if the window is maximized or not;

Is this a jaws issue?

Or is it strictly a chrome issue?

Can someone please advise?

Problems when entering formulae in Excel

Sameer

Dear List Friends,

While entering formulae in Excel using the arrow keys, JAWS does not speak the cell coordinates when arrowing left or right but will speak them if arrowing up or down. For example, if I want to enter =B1+B2 in cell A1, JAWS will read “=B1” when I arrow down from A1 after typing the = sign. But when I press the + sign & arrow right to B2, JAWS will stay silent. But the formula appears in cell A1.

Kindly advise how I can make JAWS read the cell references when arrowing left or right when entering formulae.

I am using a 64 bit Windows 7OS with JAWS 18 & Office 2016.

Thanking you in advance for any & all assistance.

Mike,

           To my knowledge Office 365 is strictly a subscription service, and looking at this Microsoft Office Product Page bears that out.

            With recent changes in the law in the EU and several other venues Microsoft can no longer tie a Microsoft Office single install license to a single machine.  That license can still only be used for a single instance of Office, but if the machine it was originally on is decommissioned the license is free to be used on a different computer.  This has caused a cottage industry to pop up in Europe and the Far East where machines being scrapped are being bought up, the licenses extracted, then the machines are scrapped or recycled.  Those licenses are offered for sale on eBay for a song.

              I have now updated 5 computers, 4 in my household and one for a regular who shall remain nameless here, with Microsoft Office 2016 Pro Plus using licenses purchased from eBay for less than $10 each.  The last one cost me the princely sum of $5.39, and though I had to use the phone activation rather than internet activation, it activated without a hitch.

               If you want installed then it's some version of Office 2016.  Given the low cost of recycled licenses, I'd definitely try one of those first.  I did have one that would not work and the seller promptly sent me a different license key.  If you see someone selling these that has solid seller ratings in their profile I wouldn't hesitate for one second.  A couple of these that I bought for under $7.50 were from new and unknown sellers, but the potential loss (which, by the way, did not happen) was so small it was well worth the risk compared to the cost of a brand new license.

               This practice, by the way, is entirely legal, at least if done under the current laws.  The one thing that does get fudged a lot is that the sellers are supposed to have to sell you the actual junked hardware, too.  They generally do, on paper, then you "donate it back" to the seller and never see it.

I'm using the latest version of Goldwave with JAWS 2018 on Windows 7:

whenever I navigate to any effect I want to test out on a sound file,
JAWS does not read the names of the presets as I down arrow but the
preset does activated when pressing F4 to preview the result, but then
don't know what preset I'm testing out. however, the only way I can get
JAWS to announce the name is to press alt+down arrow, arrow down or up
to a preset, press alt+up arrow, and press F4. this gets rather tedious
after doing it for a few times. in other instances where I can adjust a
setting for the preset and where I can type a value instead of arrowing
to change the value, JAWS remains silent when pressing the down or up
arrows.

I have emailed Jim Grimsby and it was established that the scripts are
at least loading properly but something is still not right because my
problem persists, and he is unable to Tandem at this time to investigate
and fix my problem.

does anyone have an idea as to what to do to either troubleshoot and/or
fix my problem, or have the email address of Gary Campbell, Jim Bowers,

I'm using the latest version of Goldwave with JAWS 2018 on Windows 7:

whenever I navigate to any effect I want to test out on a sound file,
JAWS does not read the names of the presets as I down arrow but the
preset does activated when pressing F4 to preview the result, but then
don't know what preset I'm testing out. however, the only way I can get
JAWS to announce the name is to press alt+down arrow, arrow down or up
to a preset, press alt+up arrow, and press F4. this gets rather tedious
after doing it for a few times. in other instances where I can adjust a
setting for the preset and where I can type a value instead of arrowing
to change the value, JAWS remains silent when pressing the down or up
arrows.

I have emailed Jim Grimsby and it was established that the scripts are
at least loading properly but something is still not right because my
problem persists, and he is unable to Tandem at this time to investigate
and fix my problem.

does anyone have an idea as to what to do to either troubleshoot and/or
fix my problem, or have the email address of Gary Campbell, Jim Bowers,
Jitendra and/or Ramkumar?

You also want to maximize the child window in Goldwave with alt_hyphen, x.

after I start Goldwave, pressing alt+space bar and up arrow twice, JAWS
says "maximized, unavailable". I realize you erred, but you said ", are
the Windows not maximized?". goldwave has more than one window? if so,
how do I maximize which window because I thought Goldwave has only one
window to maximize.

I appreciate that you'll check it out when you get back to your work
place. also let me know what version of the scripts you're running,
version 1.6 or 2.0 or what?
you'll find it by holding down the insert and pressing q twice. this
will put the info in a virtual window.

Mario,
By chance, are the Windows not maximized?
I will try and check on Monday when I'm at work, but I have Windows 7
there and I don't think I'm experiencing it at work either, but I don't
use it that often on that machine.

I think the difference is when Goldwave is running in Windows 10 as
opposed to running in Windows 7. something is not quite right.
to add to my previous inquiry, there is no issue with the display driver
for JAWS. if it is working fine, and the scripts are, according to Jim,
working properly, but according to me, the scripts are loading fine,
it's got to be the issue I stated above, right? I mean users using
Goldwave in Windows 10 are reporting the issue I'm experiencing is not
happening for them.

No idea. This isn't happening for me. JAWS 2018, Goldwave 6.35 and
Windows 10.
You could use the JAWS cursor to click on the item you want in the
dialog box. I just checked and it works, although for some reason the
JAWS cursor only reads the item your system cursor is on, but I haven't
tried it in any of the other JAWS cursor modes. Anyway, that's probably
not much of a better workaround than yours.

Re: JAWS vs Office 2016 / Office 365

JAWS vs Office 2016 / Office 365

Mike B. <mike9902@...>

Hi All,

I'm setting up a new Windows 10 Home laptop for my wife.  I would like to get feedback from those that used or know about both Office 2016 & Office 365.  I don't want a subscription but, I want an install version.

Would y'all please tell me which would be the best option?  I'm looking at the Home & Student version of either the Office or Office 365 since the program will get very little use.  All input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks mooy moocho.
Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!
