i need to tap the group wisdom.
I'm helping a person get a replacement computer configured. He has to stay with JFW 15 and is used to Firefox. The version I downloaded today told me I needed to update my screen reader. What version and I looking for, please?
Appreciate the assistance.

Thanks a lot, Bill!

I was wondering why I was seeing all of these categories all of a sudden.

I figured something had changed with the Google Search engine!

I always use Google LOLL!

Hi, David. It's just Google giving you more choices. By default, Google

searches in "All" categories. If you choose one of the links below "All" it

will narrow the search to only search within the selected categories.

The categories include:

heading level 1 Search Modes

All

Link News

Link Shopping

Link Videos

Link Books

More

Under the "More" menu is included:

Maps

Images

Finance

Flights

To select the "More" menu, you must press the Space Bar on the "More"

button.

You won't find these Search modes headers on other Internet search

providers, and you will only find these Google headers once your search has

been completed, not before you input your search.

Hello all:

Recently, I've noticed Jaws saying "search Modes" whenever I do an Internet

search for something.  This announcement is fairly new, and I don't remember

hearing this phrase announced before.

Has some setting been inadvertently  changed(either Jaws, or pc), and if

yes, is it OK to leave this alone?

PowerShell is   at its barest essentials a more powerful  and fancy command prompt, or command-line interface (CLI)  for Windows. It has a very enhanced/advanced  script language, but looks a lot like the old command-prompt DOS-box window from windows 7 and before. If you're into batch programming, you'll love PowerShell  and the things it can access and do.

Re: Good and accessible rss client for Windows

Cristóbal

I always recommend The Old Reader for RSS. It's web based and is Jaws
accessible. I also saw someone recommend something called Feediary which is
supposed to be screen reader accessible too. I don’t' really use RSS clients
since I simply find The Old Reader convenient as I can access it from any
browser and it synchronizes from any browser on any PC once I’m logged in.
That and same goes for iOS.

Hi Tom.

To select what you want to delete, get to the beginning of what you want to delete and press B.  Next, get to the end of what you want to delete and press N.  Finally, to delete the selected part of the file just hit DEL.

There are other things you can do with mp3 Direct Cut, but I can’t remember what they are.

Hope this works for you.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

Hi,Has anyone got a text tutorial for the latest version of mp3directcut they could send me? Even a list of keyboard commands would be great.

After doing numerous Google searches, all that came up was some videos using the mouse on how to use the program but attempting to cut an mp3 file with Jaws is vastly different.

I have an musical mp3 file which has a lot of clapping and talk at the end of the track which would be great if the last few minutes could be removed. Hitting the spacebar and touches of the right arrow takes me to the spot where the cut needs to be done but after that I get lost.

Hoping someone can help.

Thanks

I assume you're using Google when you see this? I suspect Google changed
something in its page layout. It's not a JAWS or PC thing. In fact, when I
see it, it's just another heading among a few Google has. In my case, it
also separates out the web search results from videos now.

Another question about Amazon, screen readers and browsers?

Robin Frost

Hi,
I have another question related to Amazon and browsers.
It has to do with Amazon and browsers. If I navigate to the url for an item’s page from Amazon in Chrome I am presented with far fewer links and much less information than I get in Fire Fox. Similarly if I dare to go to Amazon’s digital music store in Chrome it declares that I can not purchase music on this device which happens to be my Windows 10 pc.  I suspect it thinks I’m on a mobile device or something.  I’m wondering if there’s a setting that governs this behavior?
Thanks in advance.
Robin

Re: Amazon.com "Cart" page

Hope,

I don't doubt that it does.  What I'm trying to figure out is how to get the cart page to "distill" the list of items in the cart down.  I can get this stuff to read, but in a way that's so long and convoluted that it makes one wish to slash one's wrists.

I do think William Vandervest's solution about navigating by graphic just to hear what's in the cart would fill the bill for a quick review.

With regard to the Delete function being a button, not a link, it's sort of a "reverse accessibility" issue.  I base what I tell my clients on what is presented visually, and it is a big no-no to present one object type in the guise of another.  The Delete function is visually presented as a link, so that's what I thought it was.  Now that I know it's a button that makes life far easier and it will make me check for this sort of nonsense in the future.  I'd like to throttle the designer of that webpage as it violates every rule of standard presentation to do what they did.

By the way, I'm using Firefox with this client, as it's his preferred browser (and one of mine, Chrome being the other - I haven't touched IE in years and won't unless forced and Edge remains "not ready for prime time" in my opinion)
