we'll besides the virus the other reason known very secure sites might be marked insecure is if your clock is off on your computer by more than 5 minutes. Usually, Windows 7 uses NTP to set the clock ,within a 100th of a second but check the time anyway.

Re: Strange Zoom Volume Issue
Vic Beckley
Hello,
I had to disable the JAWS voice assistant from listening for the Sharkey keyword in JAWS 2021 in order to get my Zoom mic volume to act normally. When this was on, my mic volume was so low that others could hardly hear me, to low to use. I don’t know if this is your problem or not. I hope this helps someone.

Hi there. In zoom, you can adjust your settings thus. Press tab until you hear setting button, wack enter or, press the space bar to activate, arrow down to audio, tab until you hear adjust your microphone volume automatically, uncheck this box. Your microphone audio issue should then be resolved.
I hope this helps.

Hello, everyone.
Recently, I have been doing some online teaching via Zoom, and have noticed a very strange issue with my microphone volume.
For these meetings, I use a headset with an attached microphone. I have experienced this issue with two different headsets. Both headsets are connected via a USB port.
My issue is that when I’m teaching, my microphone suddenly looses volume for no apparent reason.
I can’t identify a consistent pattern to these failures, but I’m told my volume suddenly disappears to the point that my audio is unintelligible.
Has anyone else had this issue in Zoom meetings, and if so, how did you solve it?
Is there something I can do to keep my volume levels more stable?
I’m using Jaws 2021 here on a Windows 10 PC. I also put Jaws in Speech On Demand mode as I’m conducting my classes, because they involve screen sharing, and I want to minimize Jaws speech when I’m navigating the screen. Fortunately, I have a HIMS Polaris Notetaker that I can use as a Braille display.
Thanks for any help!

Hi, is anyone using this with jaws 2020 or 2021? If so any issues or
things that I may wish to be aware of? I just updated mb and this was added. Still lots of accessibility problems with mb, bummer.

Hi again, Ron. After just writing to you, I discovered that, contrary to
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
what I had said earlier, I did have the procedure for moving the JAWS program to the top of the list of programs that start when Windows starts. Below is that procedure. Be sure to carefully note the programs you uncheck above JAWS, so that you can recheck them again after your computer restarts. 1. Press, Windows key + R, to open the run dialog. 2. Type, msconfig and press ENTER. 3. Press, CONTROL plus TAB, until you get to the, Start-up Page / Tab. 4. Arrow down the list, & uncheck any items above, JAWS Freedom Scientific, on the Start-up Page / Tab. Note: Only uncheck the items / programs above JAWS Freedom Scientific, & nothing else. Pay close attention to what you uncheck because you are going to recheck these items / programs shortly. 5. Tab to the, Okay, button, press the spacebar, & tab 1 time to, Restart, & press enter to restart your computer. 6. Once your computer is booted up repeat steps 1 thru 3, & you will notice that JAWS Freedom Scientific is now at the top of the list. 7. Now, arrow down the list of items / programs on the Start-up Page / Tab, and check the items / programs that you unchecked previously. 8. TAB to the, Okay, button, press the SPACEBAR, and TAB 1 time to, Restart, and press ENTER to restart your computer. Now Jaws should start on the Windows log-in screen when your computer starts. Hi, Ron. One thing you might try is the following. It has worked for some
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
users. 1. put the following line into your clipboard, and run it with Windows key plus R %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup 2. Find a JAWS shortcut to the version of JAWS which you are running on your desktop, and copy it into the directory which came up after running the above command. Some years ago, someone also gave a sequence for moving JAWS farther up in the startup sequence, although I do not now have this sequence of commands. Maybe someone on this list still has it, and could repost it. One of these two procedures just may cause JAWS to start before signin. Bill White billwhite92701@dslextreme.com

I have a laptop with windows 7, jaws 2021, and have downloaded google chrome and Microsoft edge. I selected chrome as my browser because I can’t seem to get edge to work just right for some reason. Recently, since installing jaws 20221 and deleting jaws 18 19 and 20, I have been having difficulties. Chrome seems to work sluggishly, not at all, or oddly. Even when I have good internet connection, sometimes when I select chrome it will not populate. I have to go back and select it 3 or four times before it finally takes off. Then, at times, I will be on a web page or in a program doing something important like buying something, and it throws me out for no reason.
At other times, it says it can not find a page that I know is there and goes into this thing about secure and unsecure sites. These have been secure well-known sites like amazon so why does it do that? Finally, I have chrome save some of my passwords. Anyway, while I am trying to read an article or pay a bill or something, or write a birthday wish on facebook, parts of words from sites I have visited appear over and over. I have to press escape escape to get rid of them sometimes several times. I see the words change password appear in the middle of an article about health. It is just weird, all this stuff which I have not saved bleeding into completely unrelated tasks and places. So, is it jaws or chrome or google or windows seven or what? Why would installing jaws 2021 suddenly make these problems worse? I would just like some understandable answers. Whenever you try to talk to freedom scientific, they act like they do not know what you are talking about or that they don’t handle those kinds of questions, etc. So give me some opinions please! Should I ditch chrome? What would you advise? ;
