And if you use Jaws 2019 you can now specify in Options > Basic if you want to get the prompt whether you really want to exit Jaws. If you don’t want it then pressing Jaws Key + F4 simply unloads Jaws and that is that.

You can make a keyboard shortcut to reload Jaws, go to the Jaws icon on the desktop and press Alt + Enter for the properties:

1. Tab twice and you hear “Shortcut key: Hot key, None

2. Press a key combination you want to use, I recommend Control + Shift + J since it’s easy to press and easy to remember

3. Tab to OK and activate it. You maybe be prompted to continue with administrator rights, but once done if Jaws is unloaded pressing Control + Shift + J will start it.

The problem is not only Firefox. However, Crome is not my favorite simply because so different, as I see it, from Internet Explorer and/or Firefox. Creature of habit I am guilty of being.

Another notice… when I am receiving email, jaws will practically freeze up or at best, severely lag. What is this now about? All my problems are since Jaws 2019 was installed and with the Office headaches, in the last week since upgrading from Office 2010 to 2019.

Based on what Richard said this sounds more like it’s how Firefox renders the page since it is not spoken in Edge or Chrome. Chrome in my opinion is by far the best browser option right now, it is extremely accessible and very fast.

Just out of curiosity, what is it you dislike about Chrome?

Also, if you want to know exactly what Jaws is saying, let it speak a line where this word is spoken and then go into Jaws speech history with Jaws Key + Spacebar and H and you can then review the text in the virtual cursor.

But, since I use Firefox I went and checked and yes it does say all.

But, I use DuckDuckGo as my home page, so I never deal with that as I am not a fan of google.

If e-mail message fields disappear, and are not able to be accessed with the alt 1, 2, 3, or 4 commands, you must turn off features coming soon.

 

To do this, put focus on your in-box, and then hit the alt key to get to the home menu.

 

Then, arrow left once or twice, and you should get to the check box to turn this function on or off.

 

If it says “turn features coming soon off”, you know it’s on.  Just un-check the box, and you should be ok.

Hi,

Going back even as far as Windows XP, I’ve seen many instances in which invoking the Jaws cursor and then using the arrow keys results in “blank, blank, blank”  et cetera and I’ve never gotten a satisfactory answer regarding why that happens. I’ve tried tweaking the screen resolution and other settings, to no avail. 

As for the John’s cursor, I’ve never actually encountered one of those but I would speculate that it must be some device that kicks into high gear when a guy hanging out in the red-light district gets busted and hauled in for soliciting.

 I am not sure of the solution, but this is a typical John’s Kurtzer response. As windows has advanced and technology increased the John’s cursor has become less useful. I understand that Freedom Scientific is working on that and hopes to have major changes soon.

Dear listers, on Windows 10, I encounter a strange problem in Jaws
cursor mode with all web browsers. that while it reads properly
through arrow keys, it just says: "space", if I would like to move
word by word or character by character to move and click an element or

I have tested through various Jaws versions from April 2019 down to

Going back even as far as Windows XP, I’ve seen many instances in which invoking the Jaws cursor and then using the arrow keys results in “blank, blank, blank”  et cetera and I’ve never gotten a satisfactory answer regarding why that happens. I’ve tried tweaking the screen resolution and other settings, to no avail. 

As for the John’s cursor, I’ve never actually encountered one of those but I would speculate that it must be some device that kicks into high gear when a guy hanging out in the red-light district gets busted and hauled in for soliciting.

 I am not sure of the solution, but this is a typical John’s Kurtzer response. As windows has advanced and technology increased the John’s cursor has become less useful. I understand that Freedom Scientific is working on that and hopes to have major changes soon.

Dear listers, on Windows 10, I encounter a strange problem in Jaws
cursor mode with all web browsers. that while it reads properly
through arrow keys, it just says: "space", if I would like to move
word by word or character by character to move and click an element or
a word to read. So I am literally unable to grabb anything clickable
or any word to locate in Jaws cursor mode.
I have tested through various Jaws versions from April 2019 down to
2018, but it gives the same result.
I use a Toshiba Satellite Radius 12 P20W-C laptop with all the drivers
and firmwares up to date.

Any tip or help greatly appreciated.
